Also make it invisible as real life tags are. You know it kind of gives away the spotter position when glowing bright red?

That would make tags broken. The whole point of it being a visible laser is that if the enemy is clever enough to go at the source of it, they can act against it.

More sounds like the enemy is to dumb to realise a scout mech is actually fullfilling its role and spotting for fire support without a bright red line giving away the scout mechs position and thus breaking role warefare.

Yeah which is why I don't even bother to share when I am piloting a scout/support mech usually. The usual crap attitude in quick play is every game will devolve into a turtle skirmish where if you dare play it with tactics like flanking, you get bitched at because your ECM wasn't hiding the heavies/assaults (who took no defensive planning like installing AMS or backup weapons for close range raiders) that were clustered together in one spot anyway not really don't anything nor hitting anything except terrain and each other (especially folks with multiple large lasers who try "straffng" a target when advanced zoomed with no consideration to what they are next to which doesnt show on their screen). And in faction warfare its pretty much the same but with more swearing over VOIP. If I instal a TAG unit, I'm doing it primarily for my own benefit, same as ECM, beagle probe or any other sensor modules. And I prefer to have it assigned to a firing group since I need clear line of sight for it to work anyway.
