Am I the only person who would love to be able to call in a direct fire mission, instead of bombs and arty.... Ala an AC130 or they like? Like 5 solid seconds of AC fire and light arty shelling on position?

Call in a squadron of MG locusts.

20 elementals.

Maybe just air drop a tank in or something.

3000 MC to just nuke them. GG Close. Totally P2W, but it would be worth it to see people throwing their money in the toilet.

Dang straight. And on night maps, flares. Take longer to get on target, but have some small amount of AI correction, once on target, cover a little half circle for 5 seconds firing a mix of ac20(the 105) and uac5s into the target field. Though without the drop ship aiming algorithm

I'd rather just have smoke screens and some other tactical cons.

Fixed it for ya. PGI already has shooting dropships in game. I'm sure they can be programmed to fire all kinds of weapons.

How about Helicopter support?

In battle tech they have helis. So you have a support option where one heli comes in and fiers on targets with LRM 5 and srm6 with some ac2. As long as his in the area. You shoot him down hes gone.

You can expend this with Tanks, a platoon comes of the border or gets hot drop. and occupies one grid.
You can choose from light fast units evading incoming fier better but having weak weapons up to 100 ton heavy bemoths.

From elemental to super heavy tank. Use them as consumables.

I'd personally prefer a squad of jump infantry that would be called down to a spot and wouldn't move until destroyed. Any enemy mech that would be come within the distance would get jumped (no pun). There needs to be more to this game than I'm in a big stompy robot vs. your big stompy robot; let's see whose team has more d/cs and idiots!

Tbh i always envisioned the Arty or Air strike consumables like that on a bigger area denial.

Increase the area of impact like 2-3 times, lower the damage and make it last for a full 5-10 sec wile explosions burst from the area.

Now you have a quite effective weapon to be used by scouts and flankes to punish Deathballs hanging behind the same hill waiting for the peekaboo fight.

If PGI were willing to do strikes right- make the aircraft and artillery battery into physical, destructible vehicles and require support hardware like TAG/NARC/CC/TC (or even a smokebomb, provided it's a physical projectile fired from a mountable launcher!) to call in a strike- then sure. Sounds cool. Nice to have a little combined arms spice with the mechstompy stew.

Otherwise, though? The very last thing we need in this game is another magic teleporting smokebomb consumable for zero-tonnage damage at infinite range. Which is, sadly, the more likely implementation.

There are VTOL Gunships that would be perfect for this. I could see it being a 2-ship flight that orbits the use location (say, 300m radius) until destroyed, upgrade via GXP to 3 (or use MC to just get 3 right off). Have them fly in from the friendly spawn side and engage any targets within range of their weapons while still doing their best to maintain their flight pattern (no stopping to engage stuff, as that makes them easy targets).

A flight of Warrior H-7s would be a fun option - AC2s for extreme-range poking, with SRM4s for close range punch. It's not too heavy a payload, and the things are reasonably fast without exceeding MWO's capacity to handle them.
