In battle tech they have helis. So you have a support option where one heli comes in and fiers on targets with LRM 5 and srm6 with some ac2. As long as his in the area. You shoot him down hes gone.
You can expend this with Tanks, a platoon comes of the border or gets hot drop. and occupies one grid.
You can choose from light fast units evading incoming fier better but having weak weapons up to 100 ton heavy bemoths.
From elemental to super heavy tank. Use them as consumables.

Now you have a quite effective weapon to be used by scouts and flankes to punish Deathballs hanging behind the same hill waiting for the peekaboo fight.

Otherwise, though? The very last thing we need in this game is another magic teleporting smokebomb consumable for zero-tonnage damage at infinite range. Which is, sadly, the more likely implementation.

A flight of Warrior H-7s would be a fun option - AC2s for extreme-range poking, with SRM4s for close range punch. It's not too heavy a payload, and the things are reasonably fast without exceeding MWO's capacity to handle them.
