Why should you participate? This is an opportunity like no other as OGOH will be collecting twenty oral histories from the MWO community to become the first group to ever have their gaming histories collected in this type medium. It is a chance to have your story of how you got involved in gaming, MWO, anything to be shared with the world. Additionally participants of Phase I will have the added opportunity to become a staring character for the publication of a Max Brook’s stylized audio drama, which will be available in e-book format through amazon. This will give you the opportunity to take your fan-created characters to a whole new level. Artwork submission for the e-book is also welcomed, but will not be accepted at this time.

Why are there release forms? The forms are here to protect you as the interviewee and myself as the interviewer. The interview release forms have been modeled for these purposes after current release forms utilized by the University of Michigan’s Bentley Historical Library, The Reuther Archive, the National Archives and Records Administration, the Smithsonian Institution and the University of Maryland’s University Archives Special Collections department.

How to participate?
Part 1:
- You must be at least 18 years older to participate. It is professionally unethical and illegal to collect, transcribe, record, etc… the oral histories given by minors without parental/guardian consent or to do so without said parent/ guardian in the room while an oral history is recorded.
- You must sign and date the interview release forms 30 days before the interview takes place. I will not interview you without the signing of the release forms. If I have not received your form 30 days before your interview date your slot will be given to someone else.
- You must have access to a stable internet connection.
- You must be available to schedule a minimum of 2 hours of your time for the interview to take place on the agreed upon date.
- You will need a microphone. [You do not need a webcam as video will not be recorded.]
- You must submit via e-mail or post in this thread a 250 word maximum abstract explaining why you want to participate in the project.
- You must additionally submit via e-mail or post in this thread a 750 word maximum fan-created short story of your potential character for the audio/e-book drama.
- At my discretion. This is a professional project and a brand new undertaking in the world of oral histories, thus for Phase I that selection of participants will be determined based on the quality of your abstract and short story. This is an experimental process as this form of oral history collection has never been done before with gaming communities.
- FAN FAVORITE: Whoever’s abstract gets the most “likes” in the thread will receive a slot.
