its about time to start a new topic about hitreg, as it has gone down to unpleasant levels again.
I have no videos, but I hope my impressions help you out to start the bughunting:
PPCs:
I was using PPCs in several public drops to notice an odd behavior of tunneling. To verify, I started a lobby with people from my own region (EU, Germany) and saw about 30% - 40% tunneling of PPC shots through the enemy.
This was both the case on a spectator point of view as well as from the direct point of view from the pilot. Every time the PPC tunneled through the enemy mech, there was no impact flash, neither on the mech itself, nor on the terrain geometry behind the mech (so if it really tunneled through, it should have at least hit the wall behind the mech, right?)
SRMs:
Again, some salvos do not reg at all or with only very tiny amounts of damage. I cannot say much to it, as it feels pretty random if an SRM salvo regs or not, but it seems its a similar behavior to the PPCs, maybe a little bit less (because of the lower projectile speed?)
Lasers:
Full salvos into the open CT of an enemy do not really change the color or they reg on legs while hitting the CT well above the legs. So we have two problems here: They do not reg where they should reg and it seems they are also losing quite some "ticks" in the process, that do not reg at all.
Autocannons:
They seem to be fine. My Gauss shots so far all caused damage on a hit and for the IS-AC/20 it regs as well as with Clan Ultra ACs. For the Clan Ultra-ACs, its hard to tell if everything regs, because of the high amount of projectiles, so its better to judge with singe shot ACs, like the AC/20 or Gauss, which seem to be rather fine.
Sys-Spec and stuff:
Client: DX 11 + 64 bit, fullscreen
Windows 10 64 bit
Intel Core I7 4930K @4.2 GHz (stable)
AMD Radeon HD 7970 @1050MHz (stable)
AMD Radeon Driver V 16.1.1
1 TB Crucial MX200 SSD
24 GB RAM @1866 MHZ (6/8 Ram-Slots used due to massive CPU cooler size)
Asus Rampage IV Extreme Black Edition Motherboard (X79 chipset) with actual UEFI version
All drivers inlcuding chipset up to date, clean system, no unnecessary background programs, HPET activated.
Additional note:
The Intel network drivers cause up to today a huge dpc latency from 500-1000 µs on Win 10 (on Win 7 I had something like ~10µs) that causes time critical programs (like real-time audio processing) to have stutters. I'm not a network engineer, so I cannot say if that has any effect on the hitreg of MWO, but it might be worth taking a look onto it. I'm using the LAN-port on my MB which is an Intel port so I have to use the Intel drivers.
