Play something else completely and then come back to MWO.

Try this out.

I swapped out the UAC-5, because its just too frustrating to use.
Drop in the AC-10 modules, and don't forget to use that MASC.
Surprisingly fun brawler/ranger build especially with MASC going for Peek-a-Boom shots.
If you find yourself running out of AC-10, drops some JJ's.

Try XCOM 2 instead and get some time away from mechs.
That game is just awesome, with a few minor flaws.
Strategy is huge, decisions are long lasting, and your troops gain experience making their deaths substantial. It's a definite challenge, especially when you go for "Ironman" mode which only does one save.
Had a mission last night where I took 6 of my best troops, seemed to be rolling over the aliens and got caught in a bad location. Had to make the choice to save the troops ( seasoned vets with valuable skill sets) or accomplish the mission.
Chose to complete the mission as part of the greater picture, but lost 3 good soldiers. Still pondering that decision but its irreversible.

UPDATE: It was a bad decision. Went through a run of 3 missions that completely decimated my experienced troops and it was too late in the game to recover. Had to start again.

Best option is to play an entirely different game.

I've been playing the ever loving crap out of XCOM 2. At first I was more than a bit put off by a lot of the changes from EW, and while I still miss some of those features, I'm enjoying it quite a bit.
I have to admit though, the tech tree is more like a tech sapling. It seems a whole lot easier to burn through it, where as with EW I quite often didn't get through all the tech until much closer to the end.

Yeah, but the biggest challenge for me was how busy the GEOSCAPE has become. Nothing more frustrating than watching the time count down until you are just a sliver away from getting some reward for it to be interrupted by a special event that you dare not accept.
