Urby was actually not a bad light mech before the Balance pass, and especially before the skiltree nerf.

But we're talking about a mech that lost and lost big when it got re-quirked.

It lost heatgen quirks, it lost top speed, it lost agility, it lost range quirks, they even stripped the MG quirks, and got nothing back in the rebalance except a little structure bonus mostly.

Best part is, it wasn't trash, not even close, but after the rebalance it is now the jokemech that everyone thought it to be.

We're talking about a slow light, with builds maxing out at 7 TrueDHS being stripped of heatgen quirks making energy builds very difficult.
It did retain Ballistic quirks but the builds are near impossible to run competitively especially the AC-20 setup, and has a max speed or 104kph so it can be chased down by just about everything.

IMO, Urby got **** on.
Locust, Commando, Spider, Raven, every single light in the game including the MistLynx step all over Urby now.

Urby needs help, Save Urby.

Sadly, in MWO it'd have needed obscene AC/10 or AC/20 quirks to really keep up.

Not like it can pack that much ammo for a 20 to take advantage of it.

The Urbie can be a lot of fun (full speed reverse!) if you're ok with times when someone owns your slow arse if you get caught in a bad place. That said the R63 is the only mech I have 2 of so I can run my derpy build and my somewhat less derpy build.

This is still my favorite Urbie match. Not because it was my best outing in one, it wasn't, but because I managed it while crawling along at 35kph. Posted Image

I've seen Urbies used to devastating effect. They're easy to underestimate, easy to not see (they're so tiny), and pack a respectable amount of firepower for their size. The most popular appears to be a 180 engine with 2xMG and 4xMPL, and it can and will shred people.

It is the only light mech I own; I bought the collector's pack but missed the early adopter, darn it.

It's not that bad. It's slow, yeah. You have to drive it like a real squishy medium. And if you're carrying a big cannon it doesn't pack a lot of punch, but it can be a blast pecking away with your peacemaker and trying to hide behind pebbles while the bad guys try to figure out where you are. Get caught in the open, and it's "good night, Gracie." But it's also a lot of fun to drive and I typically laugh like a maniac every time I get one out. A long stretch in the Urbie is a great way to make sure you stay in Tier 4 ;)

The Urbie was the mech I got my 5 kill achievement in. 3LL and just hide behind something else. That's quite a lot of firepower to add to a firefight if you can get it in the right place

I will also point out that Urbanmechs are one of the cheapest mechs to optimize. So if you are on a c-bill budget, just remember that you can put together a solid Urbanmech build for around 5.5 million (less than the cost of the 400XL engine that I favor for the Battlemaster).

EDIT: The linked build could also be improved by removing the ferro armor, maxing the right arm armor, upping the head to 16, swapping the engine to a 180XL, cutting 1 jet, and piling in 3 more heat sinks. Total cost of just over 7 million.

Nothing an Urbanmech does that no other mech can do, however:

Urbanmechs have high weapon mounts and pure 360 tracking.

To excell at an Urbanmech is to make use of Precision firing: either strafing, or firing from behind the ankles of your bigger buddies while they hold the enemy's attention.

I love my Urbanmech.

Maybe the sheer emptiness is because his zen is so strong that enemy mechs explode by pure thoughts...

I like the Urbanmech. it is a fun mech and the 360 degree torso rotation makes for some interesting and fun play.

It is slow (Very slow for a light), but on the plus side... It is small in stature, has high mounted hardpoints, and also has JJs. I use it more for ranged firesupport, but shorter ranged big ballistics can work too (although not my style).

Overall I do well with my favorite ride as I am only 0.25 KDR off my average (1.45) ...

The other models are all over 1 KDR (I do worse in quite a few mechs that are supposedly "better").

It is a difficult mech to use, but rewarding and fun. If you are looking for a fun ride, why not give it a try?

Yeah I agree. They need to take another look at the Urbie. Give it quirks that play to it's strengths.

The Urbie cured my cancer, my halitosis, AND my persistent dandruff.

There is no "hero" Urbie, because EVERY Urbie is already a goddamned hero!
