I Messed Up - Pitfalls Of Pay To Win

I really have enjoyed playing the game though but this pay store has ruined it and my noob mistake at the start of buying and kitting out a mech was obviously a big one(its what it was about though) so thank you for revamping a old game that I once loved, you did an excellent job on the gameplay, I like the weapons and differences between the mechs, the players in most part seem friendly all in all you've released a pretty fun game.
I may of bought a couple of mechs even though im not a fan of stores if the prices hadn't been outrageous, if you'd dropped the store I most certainly would of paid 6-8 quid a month for membership and the extra content.
Thanks for the memories, its been fun and ill no doubt return but this store problem will mean I am only ever casual and the chances of loosening my purse strings are pretty much gone.

EDIT: Uggggh. Okay sorry, I'll try to respond appropriately.

Did you DHS that Zeus? Kinda lore/immersion ruining, but double heat sinks are a requirement on almost any chassis bigger than a Locust ('cept Gauss boats). And tremendously impact the playability of a given mech.
I am sorry the prices seem bad to you, but consider things like Star Cit. or WoT. On the grand marketplace scheme PGI is doing quite well.(Consider also how much one pays to amuse oneself in various venues, despite my confirmed "whale" status, this game comes over as quite in inexpensive way to snag me giggles and has only gotten me arrested once, so there's that.
EDIT EDIT: Friend list me if you ever need backup while leveling that Zeus. A garage full of mastered Meta-lights can be an excellent force multiplier to a slow assault.

You can try use this website to make builds for your mechs virtually. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/
You can use the trial mechs too for grinding. TBR, TDR, King crab are good trials.

Do you know that you can buy mechs for C-bills (earned in game currency) and not just MC?
There is no Pay to Win in MW:O. Only Pay to get sooner or Pay to Get Early.
So, I'm not entirely sure what your problem is. You could have easily earned that Zeus with in game currency as a 100% free player.
Edit: If you didn't know that, let us know and we will happily tell you how to purchase future mechs (and maybe guide you in how to correct the mistake).

As said previously and I feel I need to say this again, but you admit to having messed up bigtime and then go on to complain. Uh, there is nothing for you to complain about.
You need to understand that this game is NOT pay to win. PGI has tried very hard to keep it that way, and many of us feel that they have succeeded. Money does not guarantee a win. Period.
Don't give up on the game, just remember that if you spend money you are not guaranteeing yourself a win.

Why did you spend real money on it though? there are tons of mechs to buy with in game currency. If you are going to use real money get a hero, just for the C-Bill boost they give. But understand hero mechs are not any better than the standard variants so you really are just getting a boost to earning in game currency. If you play regularly you would be better off spending that same money on premium time.

No your fault not the games!
I bought a IS mech and then found out I needed clan to play CW, I accepted that and did the hard yards.

you do realize there's literally over a hundred mech variants to choose from that cost you no money at all right?

Not that it really matters as many other people already commented and helped but let me tell you about 240 dollar package...
First of all, it isn't 1 mech, it isn't 3... it isn't 10... it's 24 chassis.
8 of them premium. (2 of them being very expensive in c-bills value, 2 of them being expensive in c-bills, 2 of them slightly less expensive in c-bills, and the last 2 average in c-bills. Relating the premium Invasion mechs to the non premium)
So here you got 8 Premium vehicles for 240 dollars, (approximately 30 dollars each).
Now if you look at other games- a premium weapon / vehicle/ soldier/ what ever can reach between 20 to 80 dollars for just that unit. HOWEVER in MW: O to assist in grinding and for those mech collectors out there. there are 2 standard variants with each mech. Meaning 16 standard mechs, each in their own mech bay... with all having premium skin and giving free colours... etc. So really, it's a bang for your buck. A bargain, even if all things in game are 50% off these packages are still good for their worth. Meanwhile other games get it slightly better than the contemporary stuff, ie having a 40 dollar pack with a 42 dollar premium vehicle in it (comparable premium vehicle in standard tree) and 1 week premium... Which is some other games do.
Also this also grants many other stuff for cosmetics and misc stuff as well as originally what... 5 month early access to the clans? The first time they were added.. that's a big thing.
However this isn't even the best pack- getting some of the newer ones is virtually robbing the bank in comparison.
however due to how many packs there are buying all of them isn't worth it if you do not want to. buying one that suits you is the best idea. So it really does depend.

Pretty much this... A brand new account, and you messed up with spending C-bills? You have not even learned the basics of the game at 25 matches.. Trust me.. This game plays so much different than the other mech titles.
I started a new account for clans, I bought one champion timber, and have half my 30 bucks worth of MC left.. though i should of spent 55 and gone ala cart getting a Cbill booster of GXP, but ohh well. That 30 bucks will end up getting me a mech, and 16 bays, along with some paint on sale, and some one shot camo's
30 bucks, should be good for the next year Plus,, so not pay to win..

Ok, whose alt account is this, and why you trollin' in the easily-misled NPH forum? That s**t ain't cool.
(And please, PLEASE, tell me you're not someone ignorant enough to be SERIOUS with that OP. I mean, you've got to be able to READ, at least a LITTLE, to even download and install the game, right?)
Maybe we should all cool it with this alt account stuff...

well, you could still, reroll on a new account. I did so too because I bought the wrong mech and then had to get a LAOD of money to correct it, or make a new account for new cadet bonus and rechoose something better.

Zeus is an 80 ton assault mech. Mind you, this is the lowest class of assault mech; most 80 ton assault mechs are at the 'bottom' of "Assault" tankery due to being slower than 75 ton heavies and barely more armor. That extra five tons usually goes to ammunition or cooling instead.
That said, Zeus is a really good mech provided that your speed is above 64 kph. If it is not, you're screwed. Even if you are, most Zeus tend to run at 75+ kph.
Depending on the Zeus variant, you may find the mech is better geared for specific rolls. Some are better as artillery, or 'surprise' brawling (that is find enemies who are already fighting your allies and come in from the side and rip them apart).
Some variants come with an XL engine. If you do not twist a lot or keep a high speed, you will die quickly. Your arms are sacrificial, your shoulders are not. If you want to last up to 3x longer, use a standard engine but remember the above 64 kph rule.
---------
Pay to win. This game has many issues and I'm very vocal about all of them in even the most inappropriate places. Pay to win is not among them. "Pay to shortcut," sure. "Pay to get now," yep. Pay to win, no. This game actually has an issue with "Pay to lose". Mainly in hero mech designs as of late.
240 dollars is the total Invasion wave I collection of 8 chassis, that's 24 mechs at the Omnimech price, which at the time was largely to help with the costs of completely developing a lot of new stuff to balance. Though earning them is fairly easy once a player makes about 300 damage and either a kill or a good amount of 'teamplay'. Those two aren't as easy to come by at first but it can be learned. There was also almost a year to 'gather' that money if you had to have it by cash.
Earning things without the premium time isn't all that hard either. Want a hundred ton mech and the funds to kit it out while doing it 'free'? Looking at an hour of modest results per 10 tons for the Inner Sphere mechs like King Crab or an hour per 7.5 tons for the Clan mechs like the Dire Wolf.
-------
Beyond that, this 'alt account' was less than 20 minutes old before making this post, which isn't even enough time to make a single (serious) match, join a faction, come on here to type this message and then log off immediately after.

The game isn't pay to win. Every mech that you can spend real money on, you can also get (eventually) with in game currency. Its just that those who spend the money get access to those mechs sooner (or instantly depending on the situation) instead of grinding the money for them.
I recommend not starting a new account (because honestly you will lose all your GXP and such). If you need some Cbills, I assume since you already have gotten your 25 games bonus, is to go and do the training missions on tutorial island. I think you can make like 5mil Cbills if you get the gold rewards for completing all tiers in the training (its really not hard to get gold). That should easily bump you up to where you need the money to get the KGC (my favorite mech in the game, I have 4 of them). Other than that, keep slogging in the games until you get the money.
