I Messed Up - Pitfalls Of Pay To Win

If you don't like a particular mech, master it anyway. The next time you face that mech on the battlefield, you will know exactly how to attack it.
One thing that isn't required required is paying real money for new mechs. I don't agree this game is p2w.
My own preference is to use cbills for mechs. I'll wait until New Year's day and buy a whole year of premium time at 50% off.
I'll buy mech bays as needed, but I'll watch for them to go on sale. Even that isn't required as PGI is known to give away mech bays (and mechs) during certain challenges.
There are plenty of ways to participate in this game and spend little to no money. Of course, it comes down to how much patience you have. Want it now? Then go buy it. If not, then grind up cbills and wait a little while longer.

Also make sure you buy MC over the "Black Friday" weekend. The past 3 years (the 2013 MC sale was the first I had ever heard of Black Friday, I did not see or hear of that term used in UK shops until 2014) there has been an MC "sale" (something like 30% extra free, so technically not a sale) that weekend, if you can get the premium time at half price for $50 with about $20 of MC extra free that works out as a much better deal.

My jester, huggin, ember, arrow, ilya, and misery will pretend you did not say that..
Jester, Huggin, and Arrow are among the ones I find to be on that list.
My Misery and Ember will pretend you didn't just lump the Misery (or the Ember) in with mechs that feel as though you paid to lose.
Illya Muromets had a long, long running on the "best mech to have" thing. Though I confess as of late it seems like a sad kitty. Least it doesn't have a smile painted on it.
Elect the Misery for the best non-gimmick, non-meta hero mech to ever stomp on the battlefield.

huggin, yea that is nitch, and so is arrow, But if ya wanna boat machine guns with missiles, or Large pulse, they both do it fairly well. Sure not the best, but in pugs, fun mechs for sure.
I'll agree with misery.. Only hero in my CW drop deck.

Not as of late, but I'm not a meta person to begin with. And quirks... quirks as a concept disgusted me. A bandaid on top of a bandaid on top of a bandaid. Not to mention the lack of a real pattern as to 'why' they give quirks to anything. Just an escalating power creep issue.
That said: Catapults have had hitbox improvements and I heard they are bound to be reduced in scale to something 'closer' to their canon heights. I'll jump on the Catapult wagon again then.

I really have enjoyed playing the game though but this pay store has ruined it and my noob mistake at the start of buying and kitting out a mech was obviously a big one(its what it was about though) so thank you for revamping a old game that I once loved, you did an excellent job on the gameplay, I like the weapons and differences between the mechs, the players in most part seem friendly all in all you've released a pretty fun game.
I may of bought a couple of mechs even though im not a fan of stores if the prices hadn't been outrageous, if you'd dropped the store I most certainly would of paid 6-8 quid a month for membership and the extra content.
Thanks for the memories, its been fun and ill no doubt return but this store problem will mean I am only ever casual and the chances of loosening my purse strings are pretty much gone.
That $240 is for 24 mechs plus mech bays and 3 months premium=extra CBills and XP, plus cockpit items...it's a lot for your buck.s

75k cbills per match or ~450k per hour if you are a very fresh player. Say you grind 10hrs/week then it will take 2 weeks to buy a good mech - check metamechs.com & look for a medium or heavy that would fit your playstyle. If you work as a team player then your cbills/hr will go up drastically, over 2x that amount.
If you re-roll you can get the 5mil up-front from the training thing & something like 15+ mil extra from the cadet bonus. That's enough for 1 super-solid heavy or two decent heavies/mediums. My alt has 165 matches & I already have 3x T-bolts & 3x Quickdraws decked out (minus modules) and 3x B-jacks & 3x Grasshoppers (stock). IMO that's the bare minimum for farming CW, after that the sky is the limit.

Eh, newsflash. MWO isnt P2W.
Cuz those LLC's and Marauders and Riflemen are SO Tier 1...

3 - When you chose Clan Wolf, did you choose Loyalist?

How do you mean why, we know it's because of Clan Xl that IS needed structure quirks and because Clan ER tech IS needed energy range quirks and because of omnipod hardpoint inflation IS needed heat reduction/rate of fire bonuses to bump the DPS.. all thing that can be solved with IS light engine and other IS Er tech... but yeah why do the simple thing PGI....

well honestly, the quirks it got, are not all that exciting, 10% energy range/cool down, and 20% accel/decel/twist, But the biggest reason why it is working better, is because it got hibox changes, with structure boosts, which let you tank damage much better.. Similar to how a stalker works.
I bought the jester 2 summers ago, it is my most played mech, and i love it.. now, it just plays tougher, Like the HBK's. I have no hate towards quirks, and really think they are the way to make the game work in the long run. But the rescale will be as much of a change as quirks..
I'm also for sized hard points, and with both of those, i think quirks will be less needed.. That's not to say i wan't them gone completely though, I do think they are a great way to make certain mechs more nitch, or boost their utility with out just revamping the entire mech, and turning into a clone of something else.
Table top rules, and a FPS just don't work the same, but as long as it keeps the spirit, its all right with me.
BTW, catapults are my favorite mech, from the first mech game i ever played.. Mech commander, so maybe i am just bais

Here's what I did differently this time around. I looked up an easy mech for entry players to start with (Jagermech-DD), played around and got a better feel of the game. Then, found out about metamechs and did more research to decide what to buy next.
At this point I did not know about the free mechbays from faction wars and stuff so I sold off my CENT and Thunderbolt (still crying over this...too soon...). Also did not really start reading about inner spheres quirks vs clans stuff. Coming from lore only, I thought clans should be OP lol.
Fast forward to today, 2 months later, I got the TBRs, Blackjacks, and Banshees mastered, got a few modules for weapons/mech. Events make getting cbills very easy. Especially when you have prem time for 24 hours. I only play about an hour a night on weekdays due to kids and a few more on weekend. But it has not been hard to get what I wanted from this game. I mean you get 150k-200k per match, or 250-400k on prem time per match. Builds up really quick. Haven't paid anything to do this, but I decided to give support to the game and snagged that Kodiak pack.
So long story short, if you want to give this another shot, do some research, find your playstyle and enjoy.
