Screw the Thug. The Hatamoto-Chi is the same thing but with more variants. Plus the in game model can share art assets with the Charger which cuts down on workload.

This.

Hatamoto-Chi has 2 ECM variants. Also one with jump jets, when we get IS SSRM6's. Posted Image

Thug was pretty sweet in MW2 Mercenaries. Mostly because it was easy to hit the cockpit. SALVAGE!

Mech-wedgie. Or an old man with his trousers hiked up to his armpits.

I have the Warhammer and I'm happy.

But that doesn't mean I wouldn't welcome the Thug.

Why would we want a mech thats pretty much exactly the same as one we already have?

aaaand this

I always swing back and forth between amusement and anger when I see someone posting a "WHERE IS [totally unpopular and very often ugly A.F. and/or redundant Mech]?!"-threads just because they liked it in their youth, as if it was PGI's fault that they didn't waste their time on broadly unwanted [*cough*].

Creating a Mech probably requires ... I don't know, several man weeks.
That work could be spent on much more interesting Mechs or at model overhauls or maybe at tanks & stuff in the future (just have to figure out how to pay that. I'm still all for MC-crowdfunded content).

If Pgi put in the Thug I'd want the variant I created in CBT, Mine Carried, If I remember right, 2 ER Lg Lasers (or 2 ER PPC's, I forget, been over 15 years) and 12 Machine Guns and like 4-6 tons of MG ammo.. and yes I said 12 Machine Guns!

Very cool. I'd welcome the Thug, I always liked it. Tough as nails and a simple but effective loadout.

The Thug already exists as the Awesome 8T. Enjoy!

lol pretty much my response the last time someone started an "I want the Thug" thread. Seriously, it even looks like an Awesome that took a few turns in a vice.

OP, just buy an Awesome, click "Rename", and type in Thug. Viola. You're all set. No extra participation on PGI's part required.

I threw this together a while back after reading that the thug was supposed to be a competitor to the Warhammer:

WHM-7S

or the STD version, but I prefer the speed
WHM-7S

Or I suppose you could throw the PPC's in the side torsos and strip the arms if you want to be a filthy heathen... and be able to shoot over stuff... Posted Image

One of my favorite builds

nearly every mech is "A.F", Especially 90% of MW: O's mechs in the original TRO...
ie: banshee, kintaro, locust, shadowhawk, Marauder (it has legs and arms of a pencil, a body of a futuristic blimp, and so many more comedically anorexic portions...) and so on...

If you want to speak about redundancy- than you should have been complaining years before as after we got 16 mechs in MW : O (excluding clans) all future mechs just are redundant or make others redundant.
"That work could be spent on much more interesting Mechs" Like the Thug? I mean what else are you thinking off? YOUR childhood favourite? That random TT mech that stomped you in that one match? or a random mk II of a mech you already like/ play (Madcat mk II, kodiak mk II, Shadowcat mk II, Mad dog mk II, cicada II, blackjack II, Centurion omnimech, firestarter omnimech, atlas II, marauder iI, etc?)

Thug is just as interesting as adding a Stone Rhino, Flea, etc.

"aybe at tanks & stuff in the future (just have to figure out how to pay that. I'm still all for MC-crowdfunded content)."

Tanks are being done by other people, not making the Thug will not make helicopters, more dropships, etc come any sooner.
etc....

I have actually always liked the LOOK of the Thug... and some MW games have done an ok job of making the Thug useful (temporarily, until you had access to something better)... I just don't know how it becomes relevant in MWO. It's... just not set up for what works in THIS game.

They could just take the model from MW2 Mercenaries, the thug looked good.

Sad that the argument against the Thug is the hardpoints. Just demonstrates the lack of variety in game. So much PGI could do but doesn't.
