Okay, I like trying out different things and for a while my CW dropdeck included a 6D Warhammer - just a fun, tough mech in the 70 ton slot. PUG dropping last night, I had one game with a unit (I don't want to give away their tactics) that dropped mostly 4H Hoppers.

I have all the Hoppers from my Resistance Pack, and ground them through Elites, but they seemed kind of big and squishy. But watching these guys work, the Hopper was devastating. I rebuilt my own 4H, flopped it into the Warhammer slot, and tried it out.

Mixed results: while it was obviously more mobile, able to attack from unique angles, and could lash out a lot of damage, it was still a VERY squishy mech - no matter how much I torso-twisted, it seemed like everything hit the CT.

And I mean EVERYTHING. Once I saw this, I figured it was like the Black Knight and you had to torso twist damn near 180 to be sure nothing hit the colossal CT, but nothing seemed to help.

I'm only running 6 points of armor on my back, and pretty familiar with torso twisting and jump-twisting - am I missing something obvious?

Twist earlier. I haven't have much problems spreading on my hopper at all.

i use std305 engine in almost all of my hoppers.

with large lasers and mediums it still packs a reasonable punch, and is survivable, since i seem to die more often than usual from a st loss in the 5J which i have XL325.

Shoot, then jump away twisting. Always. Its one great heavy skirmisher or brawler. I have spent a ton of time in the 5H (1 million+ XP) and it will always be my go-to mech. For reference I run mine with a 325 XL
