Some of the structure points for the Blackjack were taken away during this last patch. Like some haircuts, you can have too much taken off. A short haircut would have been nice, but the Blackjack was given a "butch". I could see about 5 points being taken but what was taken was WAY TOO MUCH.

A lot of people argued that it had been given WAY TOO MUCH to begin with so ... it evens out ?

Love my Blackjacks. I think they have got the quirk reduction just about right. The increased ac2 quirks on th BJ1 more than make up for the nerf in my opinion.

What I really think is that structure nerf had to happen with any variant BUT 1X.
Why? Because BJ-1X is a mech without purpose, brawler that can't brawl. For his armor, he is too tall and outclassed by firestarter in any way. Yes, mounts are high, but he won't outpeek anything now.

I think they're just about right....Hunchbacks / Centurions have always been the 'take a **** load of damage but can limp away' brawlers, whereas enforcers and blackjacks were more the 'opportunistic' skirmisher / brawler what with their jump capability and more fragile frames. Not all mechs can be supremely armor kings in their weight class

You want to brawl... in a 45t medium mech. Ok... it's doable, just don;t attack anything havier than 50t and you'll be fine. Unless you expect 45tonner to be able to hold it's own vs a heavy or assault? in that case - rofl.

PS.
You do know that BJ has a structure of a 65tonner? And armor+structure of a 55 tonner?

I also know that you are locked to Xl to make any sense of it so you can't really trade your half to fight with other half. So, even with your structure bonuses, only that much you can do.

I like how shooting at an orange internal damage torso on a Blackjack actually removes it now. It was pretty frustrating before when a Blackjack had its armor stripped, which gets you thinking "It's a medium, must be close to death" but then it just wouldn't die thanks to double structure

It's completely fine now. I own 2 of them and still rock in them. Beside 1X is not for brawling.

I'm fine with the current state also. I don't think reduction is too much. I run the BJ-3 quite often.
It's tough to lose a bonus when you come to depend on it.
But, the structure buffs were over the top.

To the OP. The Blackjack was in a very good place before the CRAZY structure buff. It still is beefier but NOT AS MUCH AS AN ATLAS. Its gotton some agility quirk and is still Meta-tastic.

If you lose all your armor and need extra structure in a BJ, you're doing it wrong. As for the BJ 1x, it also shouldn't be used as a brawler. It is best as a ML alpha oportunist. Wait for distracted assaults with soft backsides, or rip legs of of lights.
BJ was my best before buff, and after I hardly noticed the change.
