Hi guys,
I just want to know if any one has any advice on how to improve the performance of my laptop for MWO. I am not tech savy at all and PC specs make no sence to me. but my laptop specs are listed below.
Terrible frame rates is the issue. I have turned down the graphics settings to low on everything in the game settings V-sink is off, what v-sink is I'm not sure. Direct X version is set to auto, motion blur is off, and damage glow is off, and everything in the advanced settings is low and anti aliasing is off, what ever that does. I will not be able to upgrade my system any time soon so I have to make do with what I have got until I have the $$$ when ever that may be. if anyone has any tips for improving the performance for MWO, it would be very much appreciated.

Write to tech support. Tell them your issues. You will have some back and forth with them wherein they ask you to take various screen shots and/or request info regarding your system and settings. Then after a few days, of this they ought to be able to give you custom settings that will maximize your performance to the best of their (and your computer's) ability.

Doing the above, they managed to get my 7 year old Dell Vostro able to play the game to what seems to me to be at least adequately. I mean it looks good and I my frame rate is at least 30. Not great but playable.

Thanks Bud, yeah I will write to tech support, my frame rates are anywhere between about 10fps to about 40fps, at times it is virtually un playable.

You don't need to run to the devs for help. At best, they know as much as the forum goers here do, and honestly, there's probably been more testing done by users here on various means to improve performance than by the devs themselves.

It's hard to tell whether you're ultimately more CPU or GPU bound. That GPU is essentially an underclocked GT 530, which is a fairly old/weak GPU. It's very similar in performance to my old laptop's Mobility Radeon HD 5730, and that played MWO at 1024x768 on minimum settings at framerates similar to what you're reporting. You do have a faster CPU than I did, however it's not necessarily going to be well-utilized if threads aren't assigned right.

Maybe Goose or someone else who's done more there can step in here and give you a hand with that, later.

I play on a lab top from 2010 with an integrated graphics card so I never expected much. I started out playing ravens at 4 to 6 fps. I tried a game boster and a few changes to the system to free up more space while running MWO. I got up to 16 fps and now play 14 to 8 fps depending on the map. So I am playing with 3 times the frames that I started out with. New Maps like the bog, mining collective, and the new forest colony are the lowest frame rate maps that I play with.

So there is not much more I can get out of this toaster. The "but" in this is I can do exceptionally well, remember I learned how to play for 9 months or so at 4 to 6 fps. I almost forgot to mention, since the Zeus release (when the 360 torso twist for the urban mech was introduced) my mechs have had mech Parkinson so the last two events were with that hindrance to play. Mech Parkinson - crossears moves or phases from right to left, up or down in ever increasing distance and speed.

There is a lot you can do with unplayable frame rates. (get lucky is one)

Below are my top 50 placements in tournaments and these are with just maybe 40 or so matches each. I do not play in ever tournament, but these are mechs that I like, especially the griffins.

30 Barkem Squirrel 1,811

We're talking 'bout this'n that, right?

Setting up ThrottleStop is Job #1, as Intel's laptop Turbo mechanism often turns off core.

You are going to wind up with a "sys_MaxFPS = x" in your user.cfg: As an opening gambit, set "x" to 42; You can try 60 (+2) or 30 (+2) later.

Set v-sync off in the game, and the driver's listing can be ether "off" or "adaptive."

Get the latest GPU-Z and suss out how much VRAM this GT 535M has: Plug the result into the user.cfg as "sys_budget_videomem = y"

Feel free to up your Textures if you have enough VRAM: Medium requires ~768MB, High uses 1.25GB, and Very High can work in 1.5GB.

Your nVidia Control Panel should look realy close toPosted Image

r_multiGPU = 0
r_MultiThreaded = 2
r_stereodevice = 0
sys_budget_soundCPU = 0
r_FogShadows = 0
r_fogShadowsWater = 0
r_radialBlur = 0
g_radialBlur = 0
e_ParticlesMotionBlur = 0
e_ParticlesPoolSize = 0
also goes in the user.cfg, and I can and will recommend to anyone.

There's always more, but lets stop here and hear back from the OP … Hopefully with some graphs built with Afterburner, HWiNFO, and GenericLogViewer.
