I've dropped several hundred dollars on this account, and am quitting it to start a new one when I hit tier 1 sometime soon. I never belonged in tier 2, much less tier 1. Paying some MC would be a lot cheaper than just pissing away all the money I already spent on this account.

Rather than dropping your progress, just join the crowd in begging PGI to re-evaluate the PSR system. Tweet Russ about it... get other people to Tweet Russ about it. Formulate solutions, explain to him the problem, etc.

The problem, in my mind, being that there are more ways to go UP than there are to go DOWN, and going up is EASIER, therefore all players gradually rise except the few that are so inept that they never rise. Look at these matchscore requirements and the resultant PSR adjustments, it's way out of balance:

Also worth noting - the system should take your mech's tonnage into consideration. A formula like this could be used, which equivalates high-tonnage mechs with low-tonnage mechs in terms of relative score output: (Match Score * (1/Tonnage) ) + (Match Score/30)

I've been bitching loudly ever since it was introduced, and no matter how badly I did, my bar still inches upwards.

Yeah, I know about the upward bias in the system. Re-tarded. The idea that people automatically get better the longer they do something is beyond stupid. I used to work with folks who had the same job for 10 years and were still terrible at it.

Darn tootin, I would be happy if I could be Tier 5. I do not play MWO for the ultra seriousness. I mostly play to take screenshots, I am weird.

wanderer, you're wrong about PSR and inevitable climbs to tier 1, or you'd be tier 1 by now right?

Don't worry Lordred tier 3 is best tier!

Correct you still have access to the underhive at tier 5 and mount tryhard at tier 1

Come to tier 1/2 for the game play but stay for the space bucks. The games only lasts half as long as in the underhive

I would be glad to go to the Tier 1/2 so long as they leave the Camera mech alone. :)

You guys, dropping tier is easy. I know of at least two ways:

First, buy most of the light mechs including all of the locusts. At least a dozen, perhaps twenty if you really want to fall. Build out at least half with standard engines (including the locusts) and/or TT stock builds. Do this for a couple months (perhaps weeks if your new) and you will be pleased in how quickly you die in matches. You will lose so often that your tier rising troubles will be over before you know it.

Second, play Assaults stock or in accordance with TT configs...with a two button mouse. The inefficiency of this, and the resulting beat downs you will suffer as a result is breath taking. Your tier will drop. Trust me.

I understand the attitude of people wishing they were back down a few tiers, but remember that in the end, that is essentially the same as saying you miss seal clubbing. On average, you were performing better than most of those people. Fair is fair.

I tried that with the Assault one. I screwed up though and chose the Masakari. I'm still rising. Help.

T3 is poop. Work to get even more Tier Exp so you can drop in 2 where things are mostly OK.

I disagree - with the matches I get as MM expects me to carry a team, when I am simply incapable of doing so. PSR rating is not a skill rating - just your match score - which includes non-skill things like - being the first to target an enemy mech and spotting assists.

It has got beyond the point where I stopped doing scouting and LRM spotting assists just to try to stop the inflation.

Dunno what's up with all that crying about tiers rising. Went the whole T4-T1 route myself and in Quick Play it's just about people aiming better, covering each other better, communicating better, having less terribad builds etc. on average. I'm not competitive, have a bad aim and by default I run everything BUT the meta (because reasons). Still, no problem with T1 Quick Play here.

In a perfect match, everyone on your team does 150 damage, gets 1 kill, and gets 12 assists.
Assuming average enemy mech tonnage of 75.

I'm going to sound horrible when I say this, but I am confidant I can perform on a Tier 2 or 1 level, but I like the laid back low performance of Tier 4/5 this wouldn't have happened if I didn't start getting XP for my Resistance mechs.....
