Cali is good for many things, VA and Cali are actually the high end wine wars in the US, good beef as well. MD though... you know how the crabs are famous from the bay? The Ches blue crabs, best in the world? Yeah.... those are worthless here we have so many of them. I'll grab some picks from the warf, but we throw them back into the river (they die) if they don't sell, people here only eat them truly fresh. MD has gone crazy with microbrews. It lacks the dry hills and areas of VA to do wine and some live stock properly, but damn they have seafood.
I assume Cali works the same, but MD and VA do not export their best. The beef and pork here is only moved as far as can be driven in a day, you buy it months in advance and they slaughter it for you, will butcher it if you want, it's only for locals. Ditto with some of the seafood.... some beers get moved out, but as is the local brewers barely make enough to support the local bars and supply kegs for us.
For as much hate as DC gets, the food around here is pretty damn amazing, and cheap! Just don't eat high end out, unless you feel like throwing 300 a person for high end.
Actually, out here in CA, for produce, the best is actually exported out to other states, countries, for top dollar. We locals get the mid-grade produce. For livestock though, im pretty sure we keep the best stock local. I have friends in the cattle/dairy business and the steak is out of this world.

USA is odd, the coasts are great, the other places..... heh, oh brother.
Yeah ... don't come to Colorado, ever.
You wouldn't like it here ... clean air, 40 mile visibility, low population density, no traffic (by DC standards), affordable housing, great music scene, the mountains (ski/snowboard, rock climb, hike, offroad riding) ... it's really horrible. Tell your friends not to move here either.
Oh ... and we have a couple beers - http://en.wikipedia....orado_breweries
(I lived in DC for 20+ years, moved out here 5 years ago ... you couldn't *pay* me to move back East. I do miss MD crabs though.)

I bought some steam games in the summer sale, but no matter how much the little fellas whine and scratch at the steam window while wagging their tails, I just can't muster the enthusiasm to play with them.
Me too. Grabbed Fallout3: New Vegas Ultimate Edition for 10$, now I have something to keep me occupied

Some good summer micro brews are out in DC now!
I am a loyal member of the FRR, so drinking is one of my central duties for game immersion........
......this is also the reason why we have the smallest territory of the IS Houses.
