I find it best to wait until Community Warfare is fun. Hopefully phase 3 coming next month or so will help that.

You shouldn't, ever. Probably the least fun thing MWO has to offer. Needs a complete over haul.

There is a guide in my signature that is a great resource for new players looking to try CW, including information about viable mech builds. They are guidelines of course, you modify to suit your flavor.

For instance, I run Grasshoppers with XLs, but I have seen Grasshoppers with STD engines recommended in this guide, the important thing is both are decently mobile, and both have some combination of LPLs and MLs. Link is below:

Wait until CW Phase 3. I wish I did because I find the VW maps to be terrible.

You can go in now. You can fill out your dropdeck with the trial TDR or TBR. Just stay away from the CPLT or EBJ (and all the other) noob traps

If you're that fresh you really should try to get into a unit Before you think about dropping into CW.

If you do it through joining a unit that is open to newbies and drop with them, I's say there is no problem with joining CW right away.

If you insist on playing as a solo pug, then you should not join CW until you have a good complete elited dropdeck and can pull your own weight.

So it's actually much more newbie friendly to play CW in a unit than it is to do it solo.

Its called faction play.... That's a good start to get he name of the mode right.

No need to join a guild to play that mode at all. But it is definitely hard mode and it is a rare random team that can carry.

Two Questions:

1. Are you Inner Sphere?
2. Are you a Baby Seal?

If you answered yes to both of these questions, the Clan front needs you now.
If you answered yes to only one or no to both, then might as well play CW anyways.

I have been playing quick play for about a month now an hour or so a day. My k/d ratio is not great but getting better. When should I make the leap into community warfare?

If you're mature enough to handle multiple stomps, can keep a positive attitude, listen to somebody else commanding, and try to do your absolute best every game, then you're already a step ahead of most players in CW.

I don't give a care in the world if somebody on my team only has trial mechs, or barely breaks 200 damage. As long as they've got a good attitude, can listen to orders, and will stick with the group, I'd gladly have them on my side.

so salty.

CW is fun and you are ready to play IF:
1. you are mature enough to recognize that sometimes you are the windshield and sometimes you are the bug.
2. you group with like-minded players that have similar views and/or playstyle as you.
3. you are willing to take one for the team when needed.
4. you have no illusion that those why try to play "American Sniper" helping the team.
5. you are flexible enough to change your play-style, tactics and objectives at a moments notice
6. you have a thick skin to deal with those who would troll you and with those who act like {Richard Cameron}
7. you can take advice, and give advice without being jerk about it.

Think of CW as endgame and playing with the big boys.

And then quickly realize that it really isn't.

Direct answer to initial question: you should queue now, maybe you found a game when you're feeling ready :P

Can NEVER go wrong with Bacon (and I agree with the punctuation, Bacon IS a proper noun). :)
