Because it's an important area of polish that ought to have some actual polish applied to it. Even for those five seconds at the start of the match you can see just how god-awful the current model is.

And, if it was customization, that means we might eventually get a pilot or character screen... which some of us really like the idea of.

I agree. I played in CB and only started really played about a year and some ago. The pilot model was not in the game when I had played before, and I literally laughed out loud when I saw the pilot model for the first time. It looks like a 15 year old model and texture.

What? I don't expect the Tina pilot model to look riscay, I expect her to look like a fairy.

Did you really think I ment for her pilot model to be provocative? Get your head out of the gutter man.

Thanks for falling for the bate though. :P

Totally called the gender/faction thing!

Could not have ever imagine the word "free" anywhere in there though. Are we sure this isn't an early April Fools' prank?

I identify as an MBT-70 prototype and I will be very offended if we are forced into only a bi gender selection.

Branching off of that.

Who defines it as important? Is that a claim that you make as a player with personal interest in it, or is there a chart somewhere that categorizes the pilot model as a certain type of asset, and gives it priority?

I mean by the same token, I could say a faster updating paper doll when someone takes damage, or knockback when being hit with a large projectile, are all more important and probably more noticeable aspects of polish that should take precedent.

This is like how people get really picky over their shoes, despite never actually looking at their feet, isn't it?

They're also completely different areas of development that would involve completely different people and thus aren't really comparable.

The whole 'this is more important than this' thing is really silly and in reality much of it comes down to 'what I want to see first'. There's a billion ways to categorize priority, but it's only the developers that can actually make that call because they're the ones developing.

Personally, I feel the current model is immersion breaking and annoying to look at.

An update, after 3+ years of playing this game, will be very welcome.

as a chinese
i like the effect they had when they tried to write chinese characters on both character models and mechs' skin
they look and sound both hilarious and awkward when read.

In any case, I wonder if we will eventually be able to customize our character similar to what EVE has. That's what I really want. So what if I can only see my pantaloons for 5 sec. Perhaps they could show our character leaning up against the terminals or something, that would be neat.
