I don’t know if this is possible with the state of the IP for Mechwarrior. But I have seen both on the forums and elsewhere, that players have been wanting a single player campaign. And I was thinking, if the IP for Mechwarrior allows it, why not attempt to bring the missions from the first games into MWO.

Personally, I’d like to play the original mechwarrior 2,3,and 4 missions on the upgraded system that WMO has. When I was younger, I played the hell out of them and now my computer is just to powerful to run the games correctly. That and MW2 and 3 were for MS-DOS not Windows 10.

So I’d like to see the game missions added to the game so that players can “relive” the original games. I don’t know if it’s possible with the IP of both the Mechwarrior franchise and the IP of the original games, but I’d like to see it it’s possible.

If you get Dos-box you can play older games that was for DOS such as MW, Battletech Crescent Hawk Inception/Revenge, ect. just have to play with the frame rate.. however not sure how it would work for MW 2 & 3 as I never tried.

as to Missions, as long as it has nothing to do with escorts as I hate those types of missions.
I remember in Mercs the first time I played I had to escort a bunch of tread heads to a base so they could get loaded up in the dropship and they annoyed me so much that I was about to shoot them and lose the mission when Spector said "Keep those tracks moving or I will shoot you myself!"

Ah Loren Coleman he knew how to make a person chuckle.

If possible, I'd like to get a dev to chime in on this topic. I for one think the original missions would be really cool.

Uhm... EXCUSE ME?!?!?!? I happen to know for a fact that MW3 was NEVER an MS-DOS game. That one was Win9x ONLY! Also, MW2 had a Win9x version! And yes, I damn well played both of them, so you can wake up in that sleeping brain of yours already!!!

Now, with that said and off my chest... I think it would be an awesome idea to be able to play some of those missions from the old MechWarrior games in the newer engine. So, you've got my support anyway, because the game seems lacking in achievements, content, and atmosphere as it currently stands. ^_^

BTW, I'm getting very sick of developers constantly destroying any chance of people enjoying stuff for a very long time. It's like they don't care about public relations anymore, but simply only about how much money they can sap from people's wallets. Developers making people throw away their stuff, because the developer doesn't want to support a product anymore, is something that needs to have an end put to it. Losing things constantly because an Operating System Developer wants to abandon the past is flatly wrong. <_<

I never thought that MW 3 was a game that could play on DOS but then its been awhile since I last played it so I wasn't going to say one way or another.

anyways I do agree how I don't like how they abandon games instead of trying to find away to patch them in some form or another or allow third party developers to create patches so the game can work on XP & up.

Though what I would really love to see a completely updated BT Crescent Hawks inception/revenge, and the very first MW game for XP and up.

Though I would NOT want pgi to touch those three classics with a ten foot pole or they will just screw it up like they do everything else that they try to 'fix' or 'balance'.

now Mission wise like I said before no escort missions because I hate those and I bet many would ether destroy it themselves or just leave the match.....

Now one of the thinks I liked was the Factory raid in MW 3, the Missions that required JJs(a must), and hunting pirates.

I'd suggest that you listen to the Town Hall Meetings. The January and February one both feature the same question and the answer is: No, thats not possible. PGI doesnt own the rights for MW 2,3 or 4 including all expansions.

So this is most likly not going to happen, but as evidance shows with the Unseen mechs, magical things can happen :)

But i wouldnt bet on it, the chance is very low.

While I encourage your enthusiasm, the copy of MW3 that I have clearly says MS-Dos on it but was compatible with Win95. Small difference there. And the copy of MW2 I have is strictly MS-Dos. I do know that MW2 had a version for Win95 but the ones I have are MS-Dos. I apologize for the confusion as I was taking from the ones I have. However in any case, neither will run on a modern Win 10 system so I guess the point is moot.

And this is what I was afraid of. I don't listen to the town halls much due to they being 2+ hours long and my little time to listen. But if the rights are not accessible to PGI then I guess the original missions are a bust. But like you said, magical things can happen.

If you could play the old games, which... would be the old games, being used to the new graphics in MWO means going back is a eyesore.

Though I do like experiences that came from old missions and here is thing, we got mechs.., and players to be the AI of both friendly and enemy mechs that is better than the best programing can do. So what if some kind of matches were more unique or interesting like old missions?

I don't know, I happen to like the very first MW game as it was an endless game(if you ignore the story line, lol) & then there is MW 3 that have some nice missions in of themselves.

As to coming up with Missions from the other MW games should be easy by making them 'generic' clones of the missions, the thing is though do they actually want to do such things or they don't want to and instead of telling the players flat out no they come up with the 'We don't have the rights'.

though iirc MW for DOS is now abandon ware and if so then that means they could use the Story(as bare bones as it was) should be fair game.

Then there is Battletech Crescent Hawks inception where the play must fine a SL cache' located on a planet before you are found by the 'ol snakes.

Battletech Crescent Hawks revenge has a cool story line that would work for a string of missions but I will not ruin the story of the game.

MW 3 & MW 3 PM has a basic story line that can easily be cloned, change it from the Canon source behind the game and give it a generic mass of missions that can still work.

I think it comes down to this, they just don't want to do it, not because they can't or don't have rights to it, they just don't want to, nothing more than that.

Would love to get COOP Campaigns in a MW2,3,4 fashion.
