Consistency is the theme here, or lack there of. Sader has a good post in the other thread (http://mwomercs.com/...g/page__st__180) where he compares the Warhammer 7S and the Archer 2R, same hardpoints, same tonnage, quirks don't even make it comparable to each other with the Warhammer being much better than the Archer. If there was some sort of explanation/thought process that was presented with these quirks it might make more sense, but as there isn't, we all assume it's just a rush job with zero thought put it. Also when you release three packages previously that are the same weight class and have quirks associated with them that are overall good on the first two, and moderate on the third, you should expect moderate to good on the last one. This wasn't the case at all so I feel that some complaints are warranted.

I would not say, however that the Archer is DOA until we get to see how the hit boxes register damage, if the 10% armor to ST's apply to all the variants, and all that other good stuff. There are mechs that are going to be better or worse than this one and there will be a few unique builds that you can only do on these that you can't on others. The overall frustration that most people are feeling right now (I think) is the quirks should make at least one to two variants equal too other mechs of a similar weight class and allow it to fill a role on the battlefield. Looking at the tonnage, roles, and quirks there are far to many other mechs right now that appear to be better than the Archer on paper.

In all honesty when quirks determine the usefulness of mechs (and let's be realistic, they do determine that) moving forward the quirks should be presented along with the packages so there are no shockers days before the release.

Yeah they were a thing in the jump snipe days and hit it pretty big then, now not so much because other mechs can do things better especially with laservomit.

Battlemaster was terrible according to some and it was till lasers and quirks changed it up. Just hate the DOA without anyone really playing it. Lot different to see it in game than stats on paper.

Shawks are great for ballistics now...

Try this out...
