I looked at the MWO website and couldn't find a variant that could take more than 2.
Is that something they don't sell anymore?

IIRC, there is only one Mauler variant that only holds 2 balistics.
Most hold at least 4.
Check Metamechs.com for the build details.

1. The mauler isn't clan, let alone IIC
2. IIC mechs are battlemechs and don't have omnipods.
OP.
try 4UAC 5s as well very nasty. in my opinion nastier than 5x ac5 because less tonnage used on the weapons so more for tonnage and armour

yep, also a viable option.
Or frankly just 4 plain jane AC5s will leave you with enough tons for max engine size and a lot of ammo.
5x AC5s while devastating leaves moving very very slow in a large target that is not exactly tanky for its class.

As mentioned by Stormie:
- IIC are Clan Battlemechs, not Omnimechs, and as such do not have Omnipods.
- The Mauler is not a IIC mech, and is instead an Inner Sphere Battlemech.

For solo matches i prefer 6xAC5 (less ammo) but more stomp.

It's the MX90, as noted above.
I'd stick to a large engine and 4 AC5s at first, until you elite it. From my experience, when you're moving at below 60 km/h in solo quick play, you run a high risk of being left behind by your team and getting shredded by lights. It doesn't make for satisfying matches or quick eliting of mechs. After you get the speed tweak skill, you can start thinking about a smaller engine.
Have fun tweaking the build:

No more drama? I was just ready with popcorn, brezels and beer.

Well, what else could one expect from claners than dissapointment.

Ember stated some false information. Zerberus corrected it, while roleplaying a whatever the test tube baby version of "drill sergeant" is (do bear in mind, that for roleplaying to work well, everyone involved needs to know it's role playing). Ember didn't get that (do bear in mind, that a good third of the posts in the MWO forums involve some form of roleplaying, and as such, it is to be expected), and only saw the condescension, and none of the humor/sarcasm. Fast forward a few posts later, and you both had splashed so much surat dung at one another, it's not funny, or amusing, or mature anymore.

Try to reach Terra if you want, maybe you come across the FRR on your way. We always need practice targets to hone our skills.
See you on the battlefield then.
