Some people shy away from microphones, so their capabilities of alerting allies are severely limited. As a workaround, a lot of games implement radio system, allowing to pick certain signals via combinations, like z-4-2, z-2-1 and so on. While not perfect, it just works.
Why can't we have such thing in the game which is designed around extensive interactions between players?

Have not thought of it before, but now as you mentioned...
I remember such feature in Tribes: Ascend. It was SO cool to have it and, actually, it was the fastest and most useful way to communicate between players. I defenitely vote yes.
PGI PLEASE implement similar system!

We've been asking for a "comms rose" (this, basically) for... well, as long as there's been an MWO. Literally from day one.
