Hi Everyone,
I have started playing MWO again after longer than a year hiatus and am loving it all over again (when I left the Clans hadn't even arrived yet).
That said I can't help but feel my mech stable is a bit dated. I currently have the following mechs: JR7-D(S), CN9-AH(L), CN9-A(C), GRF-3M, HBK-4SP, ON1-K, TRD-9S, STK-5M, VTR-9S).
So I guess I am asking the age old question, what doe ya'll recommend to upgrade my stable?
I tend to gravitate towards medium/heavy brawling mechs, but I am game for anything except lights(just can't get into them).
I noticed the $20 packs with 3 mechs (Marauder, Warhammer, Archer, etc) is one of these (recommendations welcomed) a good way to upgrade?
I also have ~17mil C-Bills so I can go that route as well (plus about 4mil coming from the Pot o' Gold event).
Thanks in advance,
CD

Well the first thing I would recommend is you figure out what your favorite mechs in your current stable are and buy 2 more variants of those models and elite/master them.
The Marauder and WarHammer both can make for very good brawling mechs.
The Archer is not out until tomorrow, and apparently PGI is doing last minute revisions on its quirks, so we do not know yet.

Methods like those packs are quick ways to rapidly increase your stable.
I can personally speak for the Marauder, it tanks like a Stalker but is far more comparable to a Timber Wolf. I rather enjoy it.
There's a great many machines. It may help to know what kinds of things you enjoy doing as 'brawling' is a rather generic term; this would give us a better idea of what to recommend.
Welcome back to MWO.

I was going to work towards mastery on one of the chassis I have, just wasn't sure if they were worth it being old as they are.
I seem to score the best with my HBK-4SP and ON1-K as SRM/med laser brawlers (plus a LB10X on the Orion). I also do well on the Stalker as a LRM/med laser boat. If I was to master a chassis it would be one of these (if they are still viable).
Still leaning towards a Marauder pack 3 variants for $20 seems about as cheap as anything around. The Archer, Kodiak, and Warhammer are also interesting.
Also will the Marauder pack still be available when the variants go on sale for MC tomorrow?

Those are all still viable.
Truth be told there are very few mechs out there that people will consider not viable at all.
Orions make for great CQB brawlers. Essentially like a lighter and faster Atlas.
Mech packs typically do not go anywhere after a mech comes up for MC.

out of those Mechs the Victor is the only one I do not see regularly.
The Jenner, Centurion, Griffin Thunderbolt and Stalker are still very good Mechs, not sure about the Orion.
I would recommend eliting those existing chassis, but if you do want new chassis I can vouch for the Marauder and Warhammer.
The MAD is probably the most durable chassis in the game, and able to pack a lot of firepower.
Warhammer is great fun and is my most effective heavy (and I own almost all the heavies), XL safe and almost able to keep up with the Clan heavies if it has max engine, unfortunately it is XL safe because you tend to loose all CT armor with little or no side torso armor loss, but it can pack a lot of firepower.
