For the longest time I ran mwo on a system that was so incredibly old and slow, that even on the lowest possible settings, I was barely able to play it.

Barely.

I enjoyed the game, but it was frustrating for me.

I have played games for a pretty long time. Im not the average vicitim stumbling through online games. When I played only - and my system would alow a smooth experience - I destroyed the opposition. Specially in shooters like rainbow six, unreal tournament(s) and a few others I was mostly the last guy standing.

I dont say that to impress. Dont have to. I know Im a Jedi.

I say that because I hate, absolutely hate it, when I cannot compete and cannot utilize my experience, reflexes, aim and skill, because of performance issues.

Theres nothing I hate more in games than lag or fps desasters.

Still, because I pump all my money in expensive clothes, I always grudingly said to myself 'ok...****....ill get a new system next month'.

Then when I wanted to buy it I saw some more awesome clothes that I had to have. I like to go out and flirt with the ladies a lot. And I enjoy dressing nicely all the time. Its almost a curse and an addiction. I never spent more than I have though.

So to make it short: Because of my own weird ways I postponed upgrading my rig for a goddamn eternity, all the way suffering the one thing that I absolutely hate more than anything else in games:

Not being able to own because of bad performance. Either because my system sux (or sucked --> which was my responsibility and mine alone) or because (and this is at the core of this post) the game is majorly flawed.

So, I finally got a new system. Not high end but good stuff.

Gtx 960 the 2 gig ram version
i5-6500 quadcore
Z170 pro gaming mainboard
8 gig of ram
win 10 64 bit

Im not a complete tech noob.

Nothing special but I ordered all my hardware and build the system by myself. Installed win 10 64 bit and updated all the drivers to either the newest or the latest most stable drivers.

Everything works perfectly. Temperature of my cpus, gpu, bios....I checked everything.

My system is up to fuc**** date. It rocks. It works. Its ready.

But on this abysmal map called frozen aka godless city, when the game forces me to use thermal vision in that damned snowstorm, and theres missiles, smoke, explosions and what not, the fps drops right into the darkest and mercilessly burning parts of hell.

Ive searched the forums before and found many relating threads when I was still running my ancient system. There were a lot of other ppl with that issue but I figured 'hey....my fps is pretty bad all the time anyway. Its unplayable on frozen city with thermal but its prolly my system'.

I litereally couldnt play on that map with my old system which is one of the major reasons I practially begged to implement a voting system for maps.

Since I ran the game below the minimal system requirements it was my fault though.

So I grudgingly had to play the map and basically let ppl own me like they would somebody who does not have the jedi master skills that I have.

That wasnt fun.

I had to play it though - with my old rig - and couldnt disconnect or simply suicide or just stand still and surf the web until I was killed because that would have been penalized and maybe even result in a complete ban.

Now is a different story.

The game has been out for 100 years.

I have all the required and recommended hardware or better.

It is simply unaccaptable to force me to play on frozen city/snow storm with thermal vision and then force me to suffer such a huge fps drop, that the game actually stutters and dies for a moderate amouont of seconds.

Cant aim properly anymore. Cant see. Cant react.

The game is virtually unplayable for those moments when action takes place on that map. Its bad on other maps too when you choose to use thermal.

But nothing compared to this map.

This is no error on my part. My system meets the requiremtns. I know how to install games, drivers and make a system ready.

The flaw is - and I repeat that - not on my side.

I saw dozens of threads with partly weird fix suggestions but for a lot of ppl the issue endures, no matter what they do.

Can I expect more of this horrible treatment or will the devs finally completly take this desaster of a map out of rotation and finally fix it or make a new workingfrozen city/thermal vision?

This sucks hard.

The game runs at 60 almost all the time and looks ultra pretty. I love it. And I can finally really destroy mechs left and right.

But that map is an ordeal. And ppl choose that map more than any other map.

Id really like the head/chief/commander of pgi - the man/woman - that makes all the decisions, the one in power, to give a timeline so I know when I can expect a fix or a date when this map will be annihilated for good and replaced by a working map.

As I said. The drivers are up to date.

Yeah, my frames drop there too big time. still playable around 25-35 but it's annoying. Other place I notice it is in the water on Forest Colony.

I don't really know what to tell you. I hate that map too, the design, the temperature, and the fact that I am forced to use a black and white color scheme from 1974 but, as you pointed out, people like it. I've heard Russ (supreme head/chief/commander) elude to overhauling it but I don't think it's at the top of the list.

Ill never understand it either.

Lasers, explosions, weapons in general....everything looks 10000000000000000000 times better than in thermal vision. And it also completly messes up fps.

Yet ppl would prolly play frozen city/snow storm exclusively all day long and nothing else. No matter the other choices, if frozen city is there, ppl vote it. Most of them always do.

Its my least favorit map. Damn. Even mordor is much, much more fun and I actually hate mordor.

Thats how bad frozen city is for me.

Tiny, ugly, pathetic map. And its even uglier cause u gotta play in black and white.

Ppl truely have weird tastes.

Its simply a bad map. Ill never understand how ppl would love such a bad map so much. Even the new awesome map, the grim reaper, looses against frozen city most of the time. And that map is beautifu land real map. With vision and distance and a sense of being on a big battlefield.

yet ppl vote this pathetic ugly frozen city.

Well, ppl simply dont have any kind of taste. They really dont haha.
