Grim Plexis is fine when it comes to cover. Remember all you have to do is break line of sight. You dont need a mountain to do that just a slight ridge or dip in the ground that breaks LOS. As far as being narced if there is a narc on the field then kill him. Its usually an ecm light or Lurm boat. Both make easy targets.

It's easy peasy. Esp if you are using radar derp.

OP? you are using radar deprivation aren't you?

Sorry, of course you are. You wouldn't have tried this simple and effective way to avoid LRM's by breaking lock as soon as you pass behind some bit of cover before making this thread.

Apologies x

Two simple steps to make LRMs not **** for everybody:

1) Stop ECM from being an unbalanced jesus box hard counter to LRMs.

2) Bring AMS as a result of LRMs no longer being unreliable trash.

Another nameless alt noob propaganda topic from the lazercry-boys.
Which is why lrm's are in the sorry state they are now.
Yes I use to good effect, and they do have a good effect if used as intended.
And let me tell you in CW the work to great effect.
If you know how to use them.
If you don't like for whatever reason then feel free not to use them.
But do screw those of us how do.
Lasernoob.
Yeah after the nuetering of my beloved Archers.
I'm pretty damn salty.

Radar deprivation is pretty much a must-carry bit of kit. No doubt.

Lrms are not very effective ?
Oh OK I'll just go tell my lrm mechs and stats
I'm sure they will be very disappointed to learn 800+ damage average is not effective

Op you have failed this thread
Making claims something is not fun
Make absolutely no effort to provide insight into what makes you think there is no fun
Make absolutely no effort to provide ideas or methods to solve the issue raised
Fail to realize that you are not as good as you think you are
Fail to realize lrms are not unskilled and are part of a tool set that like anything is extremely op when combined with coordination

Best thing they could do to lrms is change their impact sound
It should sound like epic explosions raining on your head but it just sounds like kids throwing rocks at garbage cans

In the current state of things there are many counters to lrm
But it sounds like your not taking any of them
Or if you are your forgetting that for every protection from lrm there is a counter

There is more than enough cover on grim
You clearly need to think about your positioning more and not just run to the center of the map like a idiot in a hellbringer with 4xerLL and arm lock on

You would think that with the release of the Archer people would be loading up on lrm protection but instead we get stupid threads like this

LRMs are still scattered damage, still hard and soft countered by multiple pieces of equipment and the map itself. Slow and inaccurate, to the point where you often see the same launcher with two different salvos in the air at the same time.

Nothing changed with LRMs as of the patch, other than an underquirked missile-chassis that often has more energy hardpoints than missile ones.

OP is just running the same circle a dozen people who'd have been hosed worse by direct fire weapons have lapped untold times before.

Oh, and incidentally?

Cut the damage you deal with LRMs by a third, simply because that's how many missiles end up hitting useless locations on the target. Not that 500 damage games are bad, but 800 damage with missiles does not = 800 damage with AC's, lasers, or Gauss.

LRMs are op'd? Just had a match where I (using CTF-3D) flanked and snuck up on 2 Archers running 9x LRM5's with artemis, and they FORGOT to put leg armor on their mechs. First guy died from an ammo explosion, then legged the other dude! hahaa but yea I guess LRMs need a Nerf?

You have whats called an opinion. I play in high tiers and they do exist and some comp teams actually run them.

WHAT!?!?!?

No comp teams worth their salt run LURMS, you are full of **** and out of touch with any HIGH tier teams i have every played with.

Show us your Tierties!!!

Lrm spamming is frustrating. Builds like twins heavy Lerm launchers with lasers are fun but as said, ineffective due to small damage per rocket.

If only they buffed their damage/rocket in exchange of huge cooldown increase for each launcher (equally).

Also... Active/Passive radar anyone?

I dont agree with you on Grim plexus suffering from a lack anti-LRM cover @OP.Just By the way....

This thread clearly shows the tier system is bonkers. How does someone who thinks LRMs are OP get to Tier 2?

You cannot run LURMS against high end players..... but I can.

if all the cry-hards and tier XXXXX's are so convinced that LRMS are all but useless, then clearly the answer is to buff them.

Put your money where your mouth is, start blowing up Russ's twitter and tell him that LRMS are useless and they need a major buff. Cut flight time in half, double tracking strength. Give them the ability to destroy cover... whatever you pier 1 pilots think is best.

I have a very simple solution to the LRM problem.......

CHANGE THE TARGETING INFORMATION SYSTEM!!!!

Make it like the original Battletech... And introduce C3.

This way, LRM boats have to work for their targets. Or have a C3 slave unit attached to a master unit (or another slave in part of a network) that's feeding them real-time targeting info.

Once again, why should LRMs need a C3 system?

In tabletop, you could have one man with a walkie-talkie calling in IDF. How the heck do you think they did it before C3 systems, space magic?

Because it's not.

LRMs are never OP, which is what your post doesn't mention.
In fact, they mention specifically that.

It annoys me when people say that are...which convinces people to take them, which causes the team to fail.
That's annoying. LRMs, which your team takes.

The most frustrating thing is a weapon which is worthless. So you're right, LRMs are frustrating. They simply aren't effective.

At Tier 1 I imagine they are pretty worthless. In PUG queues they can be quite effective for the very reasons you bash.

4 runs on Archer tonight, 4/4/3/4 kills all on Plexus (at least 2.0 KDR since launch which is higher than most for me personally). Just like you have to play smart to avoid the LRMs, you have to play smarter than most do to make them at all effective. Like knowing the terrain that provides cover by sight on the minimap or even better by general direction and distance if not LOS. That is the biggest single obstacle that 90% of LRMers dont bother with. They go indirect and have no idea where the enemy is when they launch and hence no idea if they are going to have any chance to hit. And perhaps most important of all (and something completely random), be on a team that isnt loaded done with other LRM boats. Well maybe #2 to have weapons other than LRMs....

this is so funny. I was standing in the open today just letting the LRMs being fired at me. One thing no one realized, the bridge was blocking the LRM, yet still the fired hundreds in not maybe thousands of LRMs at me. How do I know this. There were 5 LRM boats that had to stop a few times due to heat. Then one would stop firing, then clan LRMs stopped and finally one stream of LRM 5's stopped. Guess what time it was then, hunt down the out of ammo LRM boats.Posted Image

So many people who cant/dont want to read. He didnt say they are OP, he said they usually are anything but. Once and a while you get a bad situation on a wide open map (Plexus) and get smacked with 4-5 boats right out of the gate. That assumes they get you in bad spot to start. If that happens I have seen assaults go down long before than can move in the right direction. 2-3 salvos 40 each from 4 boats is 320-480 possible damage. No different than walking to a bad spot and getting Alphaed till heat constraint by a couple of meta mechs.

No, no actual comp team runs them as a serious drop deck.

Are you intentionally misreading? I did not say LRMs should NEED C3, wtf. I said that they should change the targeting system altogether, where targeting data isn't shared, unless you're C3 networked.

The best way to fix LRMs is to change their mechanics and give them the niche they were meant for. Let players guide the missiles manually behind cover to force enemies out of cover although without dealing strong focused damage.
