Cicada 3M with ECM, a UAC/5, and 5 small lasers.

I got a lot of mileage out of that before I sold it for lack of space. Not sure it would work in anything above Tier 4, though.

Torn between Warhammer, or Marauder.

Both are just too iconic to me.

Easy:

BJ-3

Good speed, good quirks, jumpjets, great hardpoints, and if you play it right NOONE EVER SHOOTS AT YOU. Also I can switch to LPLs if I get bored of playing PPCs.

My beloved Battlemaster-1G, 'Galaxicon'.

6 ML, 1 LL, 2 MGs, STD 340. First mech I got in the game and no matter what else I drive, I can always go back to it and have a blast.

For me, the Blackjack Arrow. Not always my best performing mech, but I love the variety of builds I can come up with for it and the size combined with maneuverability. I do love what I've seen from the Phoenix Hawk, but I'll have to wait to say if I love it or not. Posted Image

Hmm.... Only 1 mech? At current, I'd have to pick my BLR-1S Battlemaster (4 LRM 15 w/Artemis, 3 Med Lasers, 1 Tag), this mech to date has the most kills exceeding 160+ kills. I do enjoy piloting other mechs, but this is by far my best mech, followed by my AS7-D-DC at 30-40+ kills.

If I could pick any mech from the Battletech Universe though (Not in MWO), I'd choose the HCT-3N (5S) Hatchetman (or any of my custom variants of said mech).

@ OP, your signature is inaccurate.

There are only 10 types of people in the world.

Upgraded HBK-4G

Pfft, with the number of states you're representing why are you using multiple bits? Poor use of binary.

I miss my dual AC10 K2, selling it was bad, it'd be my pick.

Curiosity Question: Would the answer remain the same if the Meta was NOT Laser Vomit?

(Just curious to see who's criteria is based on current Meta, and who is going to "let it ride" regardless of the fickle mistress that is the Meta. So please don't take this as an "anti comp/meta" attack.)

My BM 1-G is set up with its lore build weapon wise. not an AC in sight

My Victor is set up with ml's Ac20 took liberties by adding extra SRM launchers,

both have endo and dhs.

So neither meta as there isn't a pulse laser between them.

you can sleep easy at night now, ;)

Only variable that would alter my answer, is quirks. Pre quirks I ran my HBK a ton, but the CN9-D was my ride of choice, just tough as nails.

But pre quirks, pre Clan Invasion, the toughest, most versatile Medium was the SHD-2D2. Best XL packing medium in its era. So if we were to revert to a quirk free MEO, if be a Shadowhawk

You said the Q word *sighs*

Quirks rule this game with a grip that will never relax, there isn't a solution to them, other than more quirks it seems

Bucking the trend here, but if I could only ever use 1 mech it would be my Ilya. 2 ML, 1 LL, 3 AC5s. Good damage, great heat control and it is tough. It may not be the "meta", and it does perform less well these days, but all in all it is my favorite mech to run.

that should be the only criteria. I've never really understood the "I'm only having fun if I'm winning" mindset.

I always want, and try to win, but I find narrowly funneling only the "best of the best" to do so to get boring after a while. Back when I competed on the Street Fighter II circuit, Ken as the "Meta" (a few people ran Chun Li and Guile, but those were generally considered the "cheeze" choices, as was Vega when he became an option), but I preferred to run Blanka (Berry Blue, if available) or Dhalsim, in almost any "casual" Match, and reserved playing Ken for specific competitions (and practicing for sid competitions). Just running Ken all the time, was boring, and for most matches, provided no challenge, and thus no real sense of accomplishment.

And I view most games that way. I always like to push the "weaker" options as far as I can until at the point where I have no choice but to upgrade, to continue. I totally get running Meta during competitions, or even for Events. Outside of that? Pass. (also I'd rather see how well I can do against the Meta with the non Meta choices in most events.)

My atlas ddc

Std 340
3 ASRM 6
Ac20
2 medium pulse.

Before clans tho I ran a battlemaster. Can remember which variant off the top of my head but it's load out was
6 medium lasers
1 large laser in the arm
2 mgs
1 lrm 15
Don't remember the std engine it had

It was just a fun mech to pilot, could do damage at multiple ranges and just felt like a true battlemech. Maybe I'll have to build that guy again.

I agree, but my current problem with the Ilya is the lack of a powerful alpha. I find it frustrating to turn a corner, start laying down some fire, just to have another mech poke out, fire 3 LPL+ 3MPL and duck back while his buddy pokes out and fires 5 LL at the same time. He overheats but I have already been cored.

Yeah, it's one reason I went with 2xAC10 on mine. Better punch in between twists.
