Can this poor guy get some acceleration and deceleration quirks?
It's pretty nimble once it gets going but that pickup off a dead stop could use a little bit of help.

I think that is the point, nimble when it is moving but has issues on stopping and starting

Old hitboxes you could spread the damages ? Nope, old hitboxes = all the shots in the CT and die very fast.

Don't know what's the best now...

I run the hero variant with a std 300 with an ac20 in the shoulder and 4 mediums. It can survive decently well but It doesnt poke well. I just kind of watch our backs till the melee starts.

It doesn't have good hit boxes, doesn't have a ton of hard points, most of them are low so I just want to make it into a very agile mech. It's got good agility just off the line it's a pig.

As opposed to the Quickdraw, which are equally fast, play a little nicer with XL engines AND have acceleration/deceleration quirks?

Dragons just had to be tougher, and I do mean armor, not structure. Same as Centurions, Cataphracts, Awesomes and the like, Dragons were designed to be durable front-line fighters. Let the QKD be nimble, but make the Dragon tough, and that's it. I left to wonder if the rescale program will help it, but I honestly doubt it.

Eh run a STD 275-300. Use the entire left side to protect the CT and use free look aim to keep your RA safe(ish).

Yeah but it still has a huge flat snoz that says core me here and easily picked out side torsos.

It will be interesting to see what becomes of the Quickdraw which is also up for rescale too. The QD by most views is already far superior to the Dragon. Wonder if when they get the rescale they will drop some of the armor and structure quirks on the QD. Hmm. Things to ponder.

Doubt it being smaller will help. It's just the shape of the beer belly mech that hurts it.

*shrugs* I'd just be happy that they're even resizing the thing.

It just bugs me is all. The dragon is the one mech that could justify the cost of remodeling it by releasing the grand dragon (4 variants that are timeline appropriate) as well. It's also one of the few mechs that a simple resizing cannot begin to fix IMO.

Dragons were meant to use their weapons to harass while they position themselves for an 8 hex charge for 48 damage. Then you beat them to death with melee attacks.

The Dragon has always been a skirmisher/flanker/cavalry unit, they very definition of a mech that needs to be quick and agile...

Katura has never been about medium mechs, they never liked them, so the Dragon is a heavy, and a fast heavy at that. Even the Master Unit List, has the Dragon refereed to as:

Unit Role Skirmisher

If you do it right, this 'mech can change the dynamic of the team in a big way. Each variant performs slightly differently-the FLAME is a great flanker and match closer if you stay pretty clean until the later stages. Utilize surprise with your AC20 and 4ML,STD285 engine (radar deprivation, seismic and good team comms) to really pinch the flank of the opponent. The 1C (i think-I have them all so I get confused), with an AC 10, 3MPL, and 2x LRM5, 300XL (target decay, seismic, radar dep) for a perfect skirmisher. The AC10 cooling module and LRM 5 cooling module combine to keep your fire continuous. At 250-275 meters you can wreck a lot of folks one on one.

I always get frustrated at those who don't understand this mech. Admittedly,it is a difficult one. And I agree it does need a quirk for faster stop/start. As it is,you cannot stop moving, or back out of a situation quickly. That is usually where I get popped.

Nothing wrong with it. It was one of the first to come out so people cried about it sucking even though it was they who sucked.
