As a way to inform the community Town Halls suck. Instead of spending over an hour rambling and chatting get the april's road map done in a coherent and brief way so everyone can get the info when they got the time to spend.

I look forward to actually listening to this one when the YouTube video hits (I'm guessing Monday or Tuesday). It seems there may be a bit more info out there then what people took notes on. However, again, it seems to be mostly extremely vague without much new or solid information, and that is quite disappointing.

*snip*

I hate using twitch and for some reason always gives me fits . . . it doesn't matter what browser I use and I'm not going to gut all my settings just to try to make it work. Thusly, I wait for the YouTube versions. Thanks, however, for the thought.

What I cannot understand wrt to the cooling vest thing: For what kind of people who are old enough to grasp the controls and stuff of MWO (my guess: ~12yo+) is it really a thing to see virtual thighs? I mean you get more nudity on a public beach (bellies and such) than this? And the internets is full of [worse things] anyway - so why is it a problem to see „your own“ thighs? It's not like a detailed crotch shot up close or anything.

Simple. Immersion. Some people really want to feel like they're in a real Battlemech cockpit that's blazing somewhere around 150 degrees Fahrenheit -or more- during combat in the 4th Succession War and Clan Invasion eras of the Inner Sphere. It's not about the bit of skin or some childish peek-a-boo shot . . . it's about the immersion from the Battletech lore.

For people who think pilots wouldn't have a desire to be as cool as possible with as light and breathable clothing as possible . . . just think of this: In lore, every time a pilot would be pushing their reactor to shutdown there's a chance they'd quite literally cook themselves to death in their own mech's cockpit. If MWO had some sort of more punishing heat system than we do now . . . something that was more lore friendly . . . there's no way in Hell players would be running their mechs as hot as they do now, nor push themselves to shutdown anywhere near as often.

Well, they weren't all pantsless:
Hehe, the only one that was a MechWarrior combat suit in that pic was the one you showed originally, hehe.

OMFG, are you all saying that they will change again the pilot for putting a tina benoit virtual copy in cooling vest ?!!!
Only as long as her voice goes with it. She has the cutest expressions; like most full-grown women, she probably doesn't like to be called cute, but it's a fact. As for her in a virtual cooling vest... as was pointed out in a later post, it likely wouldn't make any difference, as you would only see her legs. Frankly, I think just the representation, as Sereglach said, of proper MechWarrior garb so we could have some immersion is what many of us are really looking for. Havin worn a flight suit for several years when I was in U.S. Army Aviation, I can tell you that I had zippers, and that was it... I didn't have bindings and clips, etc. all over my uniform. I worn a flight suit and a survival vest with a lot of pockets holding a lot of survival things on it, and that suit became too hot from time-to-time, even just flying in a helicopter. You would NOT have something heavy like what the old, or present, representations of pilot suits are.

The April road map is not solidified, Brizna, and Russ explained that, until he can figure out whether or not the 30-40 remaining bugs are going to be worked out can a solid launch date be set. The Town Hall is an excellent, if incomplete, means of informing the community. The big problem is that almost NONE of the staff at PGI use their own forums, instead relying on Twitter and Reddit, and that's too bad.

I partially agree with that.

Yes, the Cyclops doesn't have anything new to add.

Would it be weak? That depends on the quirks (and sure, it would need very good quirks).

Call me nuts, but for the next IS assault mech (after the Longbow in its Project Phoenix II, of course) I'm looking forward for the Charger. It has all kind of variants, from ultra-fast laser boats to slow, mixed weapons, heavy armed assault. And it can look good.

I would love to see the Charger with the Hatamoto variants in the same skill tree since they were all just modified Chargers. We could (dreaming here) even provide Kurita players faction point bonus for playing a Hatamoto in CW/FW.

A lot of the lore for Mechwarrior clothing comes from the novels where it is very common for them to be described as wearing shorts, boots and a cooling vest only. The neuro-helmets usually stayed on a shelf in the Mech and were never worn outside of it.

Sarna and some of the source books show drawings of Mechwarriors from various factions clothed in uniforms and cooling vest. So there is a disconnect between the written lore and the illustrated lore.

Who is right? Take your pick.

I am sorry but i think I'mma look good killin mechs no matter what my duds are! Amirite?

I mean, if the last thing my opponent sees before my AC20 crushes his cockpit is that my fightin' shorts might be just a lil too tight and that the heat of battle does cause arousal...

Would still love to see the...

Dasher
Dragonfly
Crusader
Wasp/Stinger

..and of course the melee IS mechs, but that would require melee options for hatchets.

Viper is the clan name and Dragonfly was the IS designation. In the tech readout it's listed as Dragonfly. If you buy the miniature it's called a Dragonfly, etc. Both are correct.

Erm.... all of the lore (novesl, sourcebooks) I've consumed as of now talks about Mechwarriors wearing as little as possible and a cooling vest - no full body suits. Everything else are artists impressions.

Good point. When we get near the heat threshold, our vision should blur (sweat in the eyes) and perhaps even tunnel vision should occur, representing the severe heat stress on the pilot.

Game-based fiction is never representative of a tabletop game's play. The only game fiction that is further away from Battletech play is Games Workshop fiction.

I would love to have multiple options for pilot models, from shorts and boots to uniform trousers, skin tone, fabric color, uniforms, etc. It would be a great way to personalize.
