The Vindi makes me shed manly tears.

I can kind of get the VND-1AA to pull it's weight on maps where I can leverage the JJs; the wall on HPG Manifold is basically my camping ground. On flat maps though, it just doesn't measure up to others in its weight class, though. And the super low-hanging arms makes even really gentle hills it's #1 opponent.

I still keep a 1AA in my mechbay. It's too stylin' for me to let go.

It's just such a rough mech to pilot...

Obsolete implies you were once relevant.

MLX for me. Too much fun in PUGs.

I love my Single ERPPC MLX its not the best mech but man i sure do make that piece of crap work.

1.18 k/d, 84,000+ dmg and counting....thats a lot of Single ERPPC shots.

Weird people mention Shadow Cat, one of the best (if not THE best) medium mechs objectively, it has all, good hardpoint placement, enough tonnage to support decent firepower, ECM, Masc, JJ and considerable armor

Google some vids on how to play it if you struggle, because I've seen 1700 damage in QM, yes, many people can go ~3k in faction war, but this is in quick match, i haven't seen any mech do that much in quick match (if you have, post a vid I'd surely like to learn a thing or two)

1600+ dmg in QM

Post a video with a skillcrow that has more

Also yes it,s better, it's more stealthy, has better hardpoints, is more mobile/agile and weighs significantly less

So you base this off ONE match that someone ELSE played (not even you)

Its not the best medium, please tell me how many MRBC matches you see with Sad Cats OVER SCR's?

That AMAZING loadout you see in that film i can run on a Panther (2 LPL) and go just as fast. By your logic seeing these screenshots below, is the MLX now the best light in game?

Posted Image

Fits you criteria, is lighter then others (aside from Lolcust) has less hardpoints then others, they arent placed particularity well, has ECM and its ONE game where i did WELL.

So this means the MLX is the BEST light in the game hands down...

Anecdotal Evidence is Anecdotal and mileage may vary.

You can hyperbolize as much as you want, but until you have actually pulled off or have proof of anyone pulling off such numbers in a stormcrow, well, it's just your irrelevant opinion vs an objective fact.

As for your MLX, it's <800 damage, plenty of Oxides, Jenner IICs, Arcitic Cheetahs have done better, so those are the best Lights.

Also your comparison with Panther is purely nonsensical, 2 IS LPLs are also nowhere near as good as 2 CLPLs, 2 clan large pulses are roughly equal to 3 IS ERLL, because of similar range, shorter burn duration and less heat, while doing just 1 less damage.

I challenge you to find a video of a Panther with 2 LPL breaking a 1k dmg barrier

You are missing the point, ONE GAME doesnt make a mech good. I can honestly care less for silly challenges from some newb.

You have no idea what you are talking about, and again ONE GAME doesn't make a mech good. The day SHC are consistently putting up over 1000 we can talk about how accurate your statement is. Until then its just BS....

My offer still stands, come 1v1 me 10 times and lets see how it plays out? If you are so confident in the mech it should be a non issue right?

and yea....plenty of light mechs do that dmg with ONE ERPPC.....right.

Try again dude...

I don't know, I have had pretty decent luck in the Awesomes, and I had fun leveling them up. They never were a star performer for me and all ended up being sold but I'm sure I will buy one back eventually. As most others have said, Vindicators are rough, but I still have one sitting in my mech bay, I even kept the controversial 1-X, widely considered the weakest of all Vindicators. I love non-meta mechs, especially mediums and I'm still waiting for my Hollander II. Posted Image

If we are referring to one communally thought less than desirable, then it's my Summoner Prime.
Worse, I run it bone stock, not even optimizing components, but literally running it how it came out of the box, except for the paint job. Fortunately, much like the VND, I make it work, and as such, have no real complaints. It's not my Stat Overlord, but I feel more accomplishment maintaining a 1.7 KDr in it than I do in packing a 3.0 in my TBR which any fool can maintain a good KDr in, even driving half drunk or asleep.

Good man, drive that machine the way Kerensky intended!

Dunno why people are down on the Summoner. The 2ERPPC Summoner poptart is one of the most effective counters to laser vomit right now. The Summoner got a bad reputation because you can't play it like a typical line mech, but the thing is stupid effective when played correctly.

The Nova can't cool down nearly as well. The Summoner can pack 20 DHS and a TC3, and it's way more durable (and faster).

I don't own any hopeless 'mechs. What I like to do is pick a chassis to master, buy three variants, play with them, basic them, figure out which variant I like the best, and then master that variant and sell the other two. This results in me having mechbays full of 'mechs that are the best performers for me out of their chassis. I don't own a single 'mech that has a negative KDR, which while I know that stat doesn't mean a whole lot, I tend to use it as a gauge for "Is this 'mech completely hopeless or not?". That being said, the Vindicator is by far the closest thing to a hopeless 'mech that I own. I'll even take my Mist Lynx any day over that thing. I had zero luck utilizing its PPC quirks and its KDR was in the negatives for a long time, the only 'mech in my inventory that had such a stain on its record. I thought the cause was lost after countless hours trying to prove the game wrong, trying to prove that the Vindicator was not worthless, because it's a point of pride for me to get hold of 'mechs that everyone has written off as just terrible and find a way to make them good. Finally, I mamaged to rescue my VND-1AA's KDR by doing something a little strange with it. I slapped the biggest XL engine it could carry into the thing, replaced all its energy weapons with 4 Medium Pulse Lasers, and filled its missile hardpoint with a single LRM15 with two tons of ammo. When at range, I am firing my LRM15. When in close, I am striking with my medium pulse lasers and using the 1AA's superior speed and jumpjets to avoid disadvantageous situations. It's still not good. Not by a longshot. It's still a really rough 'mech to pilot. But at least it's not hopeless anymore.
