Got to admit that I also think Pinpoint is one, if not the biggest issue in this game. All these high alpha blast that rip arms and legs off in a single blast would not be a problem if there was a cone of fire instead.

Been there, done that, was told that pixel perfect damage is the same as "skill" and that we need pixel perfect alphas to kill "stupid noobs who deserve it." As we all know, true skill is measured by not having to take into account any unpredictable variables... right... unlike every other FPS out there...

Of course, there's also the Pinpoint skill, which still does nothing 4 years later... ugh...

Quirks are changing again? Really? I'm not surprised, I just pretty much expect them to be in a permanent state of flux now, and to never be able to build a mech and keep a working loadout for any period of time ever again. Not surprised at all, but I am disappointed. However, I really should look at this as PGI's way of looking out for my best interests, and ensuring that I'll never, ever, ever have an urge to spend actual money on a mech, or the game itself, ever again. Thanks!

I lack the patience to sleep through a Town Hall and try to get anything out of it, but seriously? We're going to do this again?

Come on... So many mechs are propped up by quirks, so let's keep shuffling them around so nobody knows what mechs to keep or what builds will still work. Yeah, yeah - it keeps the game "fresh" - right up until the mechs you have are turned to scrap by vanishing quirks. Ugh... again, another reason not to buy mechs with real money since they change every few months into something else.

Thanks for posting! :)

That seems to be the idea. NGNG did bring up the language barrier, and Russ acknowledged it.

Now the question is: will there be a male and female voice? Clanner and Inner Sphere voice?

Or they could employ Julian Clary for the voice overs and he could do both

lol your right, there is cone fire that shrinks with aim time in every single FPS game I play, none of this insta poking crap, we have here, unless you want a real good chance to miss something 50 feet away

Summary

You could add to the summary that Russ said and reiterated that he wants the game to last another 7 years. Dunno why but it's basically what i remember from the TownHall, must have been a boring one.

What fps do you play exactly? I only know of one fps in existence where spread gets better with time and it's Battlefield 2142 and it was only with the machineguns and it worked because you laid suppressing lethal fire for your squad, something that cant translate into MWO unless you are a direwolf with 6uac5.

I'm actually excited about the Viper. I need to see the Alex treatment first though.

That's for sure. Where did you find the picture? I couldn't see it on Instagram, Russ's twitter, or MWO twitter.

They announced the features a long time ago, so I wasn't expecting them to suddenly say "Oh, and we're introducing aliens too" or anything like that.

And I'll take professional, boring Russ over joking, drunk Russ any day of the week. (No, I'm not fun at parties)

Well, think of it this way: the more fun he has doing this, the more willing he'll be to keep doing it. Professional boring Russ that talks for three hours and hates it is...not ideal.

Besides. Drunken giggling funtimes Town Halls are at least amusing to listen to, especially when the message is "Everything we've already talked about is still on course, no other big news."

Let 'em have fun with it, eh?

Re: Pink Camo

While I agree with Russ that pink is a silly color, I see no reason not to have it since they already have really garish and ugly camo colors like neon greens, purples, and fuchsias. Might as well make the birthday-cake-barf-colored-rainbow complete.

"Pink is a silly colour. We want our game to be serious, hardcore." And yet when you look at the user names, you find more silliness than the entire run of Monty Python's Flying Circus. There's drug references, outright copying of character names from comedy shows, and jokes. But pink is silly, so let's not go there.

I mean, come on. You can have a bright red mech. A golden one. You can have purple, yellow, and green on your camo. But pink is the one straw to break the camel's back? What are we, 12 years old and afraid of someone insulting our precious masculinity? "But I just don't like pink, man!" So? I don't like most of the so-called orange colours available, but I don't complain or argue for those colours to not be available.

A pink mech won't end the world. A billion pink mechs won't end the world. So stop worrying, especially if you've not got any arguments against it that aren't just, well, silly.

PVE being standalone, just as long as our accounts and the mechs we get to pick from are the ones we own in game, then cool...haha. I also hope it includes being coop.

I have a feeling that "standalone" means they are going to be totally separate, so that we have to buy the same mechs all over again.

Sure, but picture this for a second:

"The year is 3053. You have just started your new mercenary company and had it bonded it by the MRBC. You will take on contracts throughout the galaxy, helping or working against various factions, vying to amass riches and renown. But first, you must build up your company's assets. Now, let us take a look at your mechs..."

<xml lookup>
<list>
286 'mechs
- 52 Light 'mechs
-- 32 IS battlemechs
-- 20 Clan omnimechs
- 75 Medium 'mechs
-- 47 IS battlemchs
-- 28 Clan omnimechs
- 113 Heavy 'mechs
-- 67 IS battlemechs
-- 46 Clan omnimechs
- 46 Assault 'mechs
-- 20 IS battlemechs
-- 26 clan omnimechs
</list>
</xml lookup>

"... starting with this small selection of 'mechs and only..." <lookup> 1,235,967,342 </lookup> "... C-bills to your name...."

Ruins the immersion a bit, doesn't it?
