There could be a pre-existing market for this stuff.

I'll just copy-paste this reply from another thread. Personally I think pink is the manliest of colors, since only men who doesn't have the need to prove how macho they are, don the pink.

But they have Marik Violet in this game, which looks pink already. There is nothing immature and silly about "feminine" colored mechs. Did PGI forget that they released Heavy Metal? Now gawdy bright colors on a Tiger camo? That's blasphemy!

Camo rating: -9001%

...In MWO, putting this camo on a locust? Turns it into an instant squirrel with an extra strong magnet. Even after you die, you'd probably get people spraying AC20 rounds at your corpse because it's still pink.

I for one wouldn't mind pink camo.

I could put it on a jenner IIc with 6 x srm-6 (or whatever ppl are complaining is OP that particular week) for better visibility and less stealth.

That could happen.

Unless we're in europe where they paint prison walls pink to calm prisoners and make them less aggressive.

Yes, they really do this!:

funnily enough until the turn of the 20th century pink was a boys color being seen as the diminutive of red which was the color of many military uniforms (and the source of much of mens fashion).

And Blue was considered a feminine colour.

It's quite interesting how it changed.

But on-topic, i don't mind people painting their mechs pink, i wouldn't do it myself, but i don't mind people doing that.

Given that there are already a lot of bright colors in the game adding a hot pink would not be an issue for me. Some ladies actually are wanting that color for their urban mechs :D

Using pink is not of interest to me but I don't care if they add it in as a color for others.

One of the original ideas of B Tech was that computers were not so good and IFF was not a common or reliable thing. Telling who was friend or foe in a scrum was by paint jobs - kinda like WWI fighter planes.

Pink camo is quite necessary for that 1980's look, so I want it in the game.

PGI's argument was that a bunch of pink mechs would make people take the game less seriously when it was new, it would make everything seem a bit silly and inappropriate for a hardcore sci-fi wargame.

You know, they wanted to maintain the dark, mature, serious theme that led to creations such as:
  • Short musical jingles after each kill (e.g. faction warhorns)
  • Fun warhorn sound effects (e.g. lunch truck and robotic chickens)
  • Christmas and Halloween decorations in cockpits
  • Disco lights, ice cream and huge beer jugs in cockpits
So important to keep the game serious, right?

Not in the Prisons I visit for work, they are grey and green, damned if I'd pick up the soap in a prison that colour.

Having said that until the 1940's pink was a colour you associated with boys not girls, was changed due to some marketing stunt in the states, yes something else to blame america for.

Also very young boys wore dresses until they were breached in a ceremony similar to a christening which also fell out of favour around the time of the colour change.

so PINK is not silly ;)

Well, considering I run my mechs with black and hot pink marik violet paintjobs, I really don't. I'm all for more customization options. And arguably, there already is several pink shades in the game. They're simply not called pink.

Pink used to be a male color until the early 20th century. In the 19th century, when men were men, real men wore pink.

To be fair the only thing that doesn't work for that NEXT is the light rail gun/laser combo. It doesn't have any real firepower for its weight.
