You really want to add that sort of tech? O.o I mean there are a few things that just were game breaking in TT and Harden Armor should be left out IMO.

Weapons (ATM's, MRM's, HAG, Heavy Gauss, RAC's, ect) and a few new comps like light active probes ect. Maybe new engines as well.

At the reduction in speed that it causes, I think it's a fair trade off, plus it might actually make assaults more viable.

http://www.sarna.net.../Hardened_Armor

I got a feeling it wouldn't be that beneficial, specially to Clans, Omnimechs can not mount it. Its very expensive (Sarna quotes it at 15,000 cbills a ton!)

We will see though. I mean there is reflective armor and reactive armor as well.
http://www.sarna.net...eflective_Armor
http://www.sarna.net.../Reactive_Armor

But once again with how Omni mechs are set up like it really matters we will be stuck with the armor the mech was produced with. Russ is very clear on not wanting to allow Omni mechs to change out armor and structure or engine nothing cause they are scared and for good reason to allow that.

I'm sure the armor for omni mechs might slide. If they want the omni to say good they better do something for them soon, once they released clan Battlemechs I started pushing for the MK II. Why? Because customization trumps swapping hardpoints most of the time.

It says not even in game terms Hardened Armor could not be fitted to Omnimechs. SO even if they open armor types up for Omni's they could not use the armor.

Reflective armor = answer to most peoples complaits of laser boats. Which i actually dont see often except on IS chassis that are forced to due to hardpoints. Black knight, the one warhammer variant, grasshopper, crab, ect.

Hardened Armor really isn't all that great, sure it doubles your effective armor, but also slows you down and costs twice the tonnage. There is only so much armor you can mount to overcome slow speed, and if you have to sacrifice firepower to get that armor, well it only makes matters worse.

Basically, you sacrifice too much and gain too little for Clans, IS mechs that are forced to run STD engines due to low engine caps/hitboxes/etc however may be able to pull off an XL with hardened armor.

Well reflective armour would be something to make me giggle, as I tend to run AC/s, PPC'S, MG's and SRM's, with the down side to reflective being they take extra damage from non laser sources, I would be in heaven! I may be able to push my file of 100-150 DMG/kill down to 75-125 damage/kill.

Hardened armor would be great, actually. It'd greatly improve the lifespan on XL engine designs. And make tanky chassis supertanky.

Orions could actually do a good Atlas impression with the ability to carry 28 tons of armor...

On the other hand, Highlander IICs would be able to go with very durable layouts.

I feel that some of the bigger new tech stuff that should be added are like. These are just off the top of my head right now.

Both:
-Armor-
Reflective Armor
Reactive Armor
Hardened Armor*

Clans:
-Weapons-
Heavy Lasers
Hyper Assault Gauss Rifles (HAG's)
Advanced Tactical Missiles (ATM's)
Clan Rotary Auto Cannon* (C-RAC's)

-Equipment-
Clan Light Active Probe

IS
Light Gauss Rifles
Heavy Gauss Rifles
Light PPCs *
Snub Nose PPCs*
Medium Range Missiles (MRM's)
X-Pulse Lasers
Rotary Auto Cannon (RAC's)
LBXs (more calibers)

-Equipment-
Light Fusion Engine*

Items with the * are questionable.

These all need balance...RAC's for IS should act more like Clan UAC's cause if they do 5 dmg per shot it will be incredibly OP and make even worse the gap between Clan Ballistics with Clan UAC's and IS now with RACS acting as almost like Clan UACS but no need to worry about burst.

Light Fusion Engines as said making IS XL engines completely obsolete almost besides weight savings.

Anything I am missing here?

On the other hand, Highlander IICs would be able to go with very durable layouts.

At the cost of 16 kph of escape above manuever speed, probable accel /decel rate, and 14 tons of weapons. So you get easier to hit, probably slower to twist, harder to break off / escape, and hit a lot softer.

Too much trade off to feel like a benefit. A Boars Head that exists solely to tank damage for the team might kind of make sense, but not much else. IMO

Anyways, back on topic... Posted Image

for the next clan mech, I'd like to possibly see the stone rhino, assuming we don't move up in the timeline.

2 Gauss Rifles, 2 LPL, 1 SPL, and jump jets, going 54 KPH stock. Plus if elited in MWO terms, that means it goes about 57 KPH elited. So a more mobile dire wolf in short.

If we moved up timeline, then TBR MK II. Aside from it sporting hardened armor on the enhanced variant, it could be possible with 3 variants. Touche, I'd also like new tech implemented at the same time, more than the TBR MK II to be put into the game.

still cool though, got used as a icon for MW4: Vengeance. So pretty Iconic mech for a lot, I can understand why Imperius goes after it a lot here on the forums.

Meh i think the Cougar is far more iconic. But in this game it would be another adder.

Well you missed the IS MML (Multi Missile Launcher)...

Also the LFE would invalidate the standard Engine for the IS...

If we were to say a vast majority of population when it comes to MW4 i would say yea the Nova Cat, the cougar, the Uziel or the Black Knight. Not the BK we have here in MW;o but the version with jumps.

and of course the typical ones like Atlas and timbers. But pretty much those will ring a bell faster then the MK2

For mech assault, maybe. MW4 wad still first and foremost a PvE game, with massive weight creep through the missions, meaning lighter mechs were quickly left behind. Still willing to bet more people played the microprose version than the mektek.

I would argue their Uziel, MkII and Fafnir as the halo mechs of the mw4 franchise, speaking as someone who played it from day 1.

Really when i first got mw4 i thought it was just a timberwolf cause you know an actual iconic mech. MK2 you only see it in that mw4 set and a bt mini. the typical ones like atlas, cougar, timber you see them in almost all the games.

We are talking what were the halo mechs to the mw4 crowd, I thought?. Timber wolf wasn't really noteworthy in mw4. And a huge chunk of the mw4 player base knew nothing about th, mw2, mw3, etc. They even tried it out as a logo for the schedule novels. True it wasn't the metacheeze in later online comp (aka mektek) like the jumpy BK, but it was one of the most recognizable and beloved mechs of the actual mw4 game.

Im speaking of the term "Icon" i dunno i think its thrown around alot and i highly doubt that the MK2 being one of the most recognizable unless you're a die hard fan of the mw4 franchise. or is it being used loosely for a more personal taste?

meh, pretty much just nuances.

That is why it comes down to personal opinion on what is iconic, to ones that like the Mk.II in MW4 they will remember it to those that liked the Uziel they will remember that one. BOTH got call outs in the game, the Mk.II get its own special cut scene and the Uziel well the favorite of Ducan Fisher. I agree though that to many the Atlas and the TImberwolf are like the golden standard for mechs for what is iconic both in performance in looks ect.
