I wish there was a way that only those people who are on registered tournament teams could provide feedback. Otherwise its generally people who have zero steak in the game making suggestions or complaining about general format.

Pls do not take Canyon Network. Even though i like it, it is to small for a tactical maneuvering. Tourmaline Desert is the best choice. It allows different loadouts (brawl/lrm/snipe) and it requires scouting (Light Mechs!).
Canyon Network is to small.

None of them. Look if these are Professional Caliber players (which the members of the top 3 will become since they get paid) then they should be good enough to got into a Drop knowing nothing about the map(s) used. Doing so takes away the advantage of having extensive knowledge of the map because your team happened to beable to drop on it in private matches thousands of times and memorize sight lines, ambush points etc. It tests the ability to have 'Balanced' load-outs (since PGI says they dont like MetaMechs and Boating), situational awareness and Role Warfare (Scouts that actually have to scout because they dont know where the other teams DZ is, Support Mechs stick around the Mechs that are built for long range or that are vulnerable to more maneuverable Mechs etc). If any of the existing maps are used the games will just be more of the same old thing we have now with 2 teams waiting each other out until one side forces an engagement. If you want proof of it take a look at the Beat the Master Drops PGI did lastnight. When the drop was on the existing maps more often than not both players stayed back and took pot shots at each other, when on the new 1v1 specific map it was rush out and engage. The large map engagements usually went until time expired and on the 1v1 the action was fast and furious.

I voted for canyon only because that is one of my favorites, but I would have to agree with some of the other pilots out there. For tournaments it should be random and hopefully as tough of map possible, maybe have tournament maps made up just for the pilots taking part in the tournament.

The mode of engagement should be random for maps and match type. Terra Therma should be amongst the maps as well.

Needs to be more than 1 Match and 1 Map
Map needs to be either mirrored - balanced and or random spawn
Skirmish is boring to watch; the game mode needs an objective either Conquest or Domination

I would say best out of 3 to keep the time down (that is like 1 hour of game play) while still having diversity
1 Drop deck for 3 matches on 3 random maps, but remove poor and unbalanced maps.

Mining collective is probably the most balanced out of all these maps.

If you voted for Mining Collective, you might be a redneck. That map is buggy as ****, sticky terrain everywhere, badly laid map grids, imba spawns and objective layouts.

The only map in this selection to allow the freedom needed to real tactical maneuvers is Polar Highlands.

If you want to provide the opportunity for battles to play out vastly different each round, its the only viable choice.

No Skirmish. Conquest is only comp viable map due to camping. Subjective rulesets to discourage camping will not work.

Why just one map? Why not rotate through? Have them play enough so that you have a larger sample size than 1 when determining who is better than who?


Again, you could use format similar to literally every other tournament in MWO history. Why do something different?

The map vote is still ongoing, but the Tournament Game Mode has been changed from Skirmish to Conquest.

Seems like a lot of the most interesting Conquest matches I've played were actually on Terra Therma... and a fair bit on HPG. Kind of curious how these six were selected.

Also, don't do mining collective. It's too dark, no fun to watch games on that map. Canyon has great colors for watching games.

Can you offer a bit more insight into the format for the qualifying round?

I understand that it will be "round robin" ...
- Is it round robin against all (or some) of the teams in your region? If "some" then how many?
- Will it be one match only against each, or will it be more than one?

But If it has to be conquest then RANDOM MAPS are a must!
