I really just have one area of concern with the design, aesthetically.

If the red areas were shrunk, vertically, by about 50% and the laser area in the periwinkle was inset a bit with the chest plate, I think the mech would look a lot better. That entire love handles area on the mech seems to take up too much vertical space in the mech, overall. Plus, in the side by side, right now the mech is slightly taller than the Atlas, and reduction of height in that area specifically would bring the two more into line.

Edit: wasn't so much blue as it was periwinkle

Just stop and think how amazing the hitboxes will be though. It won't suffer from the large head CT that the Atlas does while still having those large shield arms! No geometric flaws on the back or front that I can see either.

Spoiler

You just missed my second edit. XD

The difference to overall size is minimal, and if anything it brings the arm weapon placements lower, though still the same relative to the cockpit. The Atlas doesn't have quite as much raw wall of upper torso that the Kodiak has. Atlas also has a much smaller CT area, based on the model alone, when you consider how shrunk it is now. Basically, CT is head on an Atlas, and a pencil from then on down. I don't expect that on the Kodiak.

Im not 100% sure, but I think that was a joke.

1.Opinions.They differ.I am not a fan of Kodiak,but I definitely love Atlas
2.It's still unfinished.Things will change, weapon mounts will be added. It's the same as criticising and unfinished drawing.

But if anyone cares to hear my opinion, I think that Atlas is a lot sexier. But then again, that's just my opinion.

Some people can't filter that, for various reasons. Might even be fully aware it is a joke, but it still bothers them. Often for reasons outside of their control. If he is one of those, it's like telling a depressed person not to be depressed. It, unfortunately, does not work that way.

Edit:

I try not to tell people something is a joke. If they get it, awesome. If not, the joke won't ever be funny to them, even if you spell it out. The moment has passed. If they're going to be offended, they will remain offended, either way.

Lower angle and it still suffers the same problems.

Also the waist isn't nearly as slim as it is on the model.

Also I am waiting before making final judgement. And I love the upper torso and everything so props to them. I just don't like the lower half.

I see yer problem. Check out the massive FOV on that monitor. He's probably running something like 100 FOV. You can tell because one side of the Atlas looks much bigger than the other. When you squish down screenshots from high FOV shots, it's like looking through a fish-eye'd lens. Compare it to the Atlas in the picture. It actually seems smaller, but I bet that's just the FOV screwing with the image.

Uh, the hitboxes won't necessarily match the geometry of the mech. Your complaint is like saying the entirely round assembly that makes the timberwolf's face is the CT.

Perspective.
Look at the Atlas to compare.

Legs are long, torso short, and the giant gap that annoys me isn't there. The legs are still a little lack luster, but they are way better and fit the design way better.

So what are your thoughts? Like it? Dislike it? Meh?

(oh, look.... I posted with a weird perspective too :P )

Haters gonna H8t
- Seriously though for a unfinished model I think it looks fantastic - Cant wait til mine arrive in the mech bay. My bear is all I'm going to roll in for a long time!

I think we need to give the model some time to bake in the oven, before getting our collective panties in a bunch

Hitboxes are often easily predicted by physical design. While never 100%, you can get a very close approximation to the hitboxes of a mech based on its appearance - short of retroactive tweaking like what happened to the Atlas.

I don´t like the Head very much. A bit too cute for my Taste. Yes Arms could be bit smaller. But the rest is ok for me.

The shoulder pads are a bit high. If they dropped them a little so the head clears them a little, I think the rest of the proportions would fall into place.
