Just a question for PGi, as this is not written anywhere in the rules as far as I can see.

What happens with the 2 international teams (EU and AUS/Asia) reach the finals and are then invited to play in the live finals?

Does the invitation include a return flight ticket and hotel or do the participants need to pay this themselves? Because honestly... the 3rd place winnings would not cover the flight plus at least one night in a hotel for 12 players from Europe from what I can see. 2nd and 1st place no problem... but 3rd not.

EDIT: Seen this on the tournament page

Quote

The MechWarrior Online World Championship is an 8 vs 8 Tournament. Teams from around the world will compete in Regional Qualifiers and Finals to determine who emerges victorious as Regional Champions. Those Champions will then be flown to Vancouver, Canada for the World Finals at MECH CON 2016 in December.

The question is probably answered with that.. But I would appreciate a confirmation (Which would also help bolster other international participating teams and up the amount of of course).

Thanks for your time PGI Posted Image

Snowmobile or dogsleds - the only two ways you can get to Canadia.

I should have expected, that... but last time something like that was tried, the dogsled team drowned just off the coast of Ireland and the snowmobile driver did get quite a bit further... but ended up swamped in the first big wave outside of the harbor or ran out of petrol on a clam day.

The other option is snow shoes I guess. but they got stuck in the muddy beach and didnt even reach the water, so they had to wait for high tide to come.

According to Russ on the April 1st Townhall, the transportation and accommodation for 8 (eight) members will be paid for. If you are bringing 4 subs, you will have to raise the costs for those guys yourselves.

Expect motel sixes and flying on whatever discount carrier is the popular one at the time...

With a hotel nerf while in flight. I fully expect accommodations to be nerfed to a campsite someplace near the Arctic Circle, just to catch players unprepared and enhance the competitive value of the tournament.

Everybody knows that hotels are OP and players with less experience will be at a disadvantage.

Does this mean non-US players will have to get a P1 Esport visa?

If non Americans are coming to this country to win money, it will be treated as such. Otherwise it is illegal for them to earn money here.

Yes...yes they will...and they'll have to apply for those at their HOME country's Canadian embassies/diplomatic missions... you don't just arrive in canada at the border and get one at the airport.

Of course, that assumes that the team captains don't simply decide to scarper with all the prize money, instead of sharing it equally with their teammates... which the championship rules appear to specifically allow.

Furball seems really worried, that his teamcaptain is going to run off with the money, that he is certainly going to win for him.
