Hope somebody can help me here.
I have just had win 10 installed on my laptop, and thought I'd try out some new games. I downloaded MWO and installed but when I try to run the game I get an error message "xinput1_3.dll is missing" there seem to be any number of websites that will fix this but, just downloading a file and installing it seems a bit random and not so secure.
Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

TLDR: You do not have the proper DirectX package installed. MWO is one of the newer games which surprisingly does not check for or provide DX, NFW, etc, which are required to run the program.

PS: Never download files from sites that claim to "Fix missing .dll". Find out what the .dll is from, and find the official site.

try downloading directx 9 and the visual C++ redistributable, install them both, it will say a newer version is installed but install anyway.

those 2 usualy fix that sort of problem.

Do NOT download and install missing files from a 3rd party site, do it properly with the first link that directs you to the redistribution link at Microsoft.

actual download link
https://www.microsof...on.aspx?id=8109

1. The package installs/re-installs DX9 file versions for both 32bit and 64bit.
2. Installs files you may need later or for other dx9 games
3. Great way to prevent becoming infected by malware since ya not downloading "individual" files from a 3rd party site.

Save the package for later use, especially if need to reinstall due to file corruption. Once downloaded unpack it to a convenient location. Go to that folder and double click on the dxsetup.exe.

You *may* need to uninstall C++ and then reinstall. Honestly, I suggest just doing this because it tends to install cleanly. (At least that's been my experience.) I actually just do this as a matter of course with new builds. (I've done this 4 times so far without a hitch.)

Good luck and let us know.

I can help you with this kind of problem, all you need is to download the file from this link http://fix4dll.com/xinput1_3_dll and install it. This is fixed dll library tool which will help you in a few minutes after you installed it.
