Voice detection threshold removed from VOIP
The original implementation of TeamSpeak for our in-game VoIP had a volume threshold for receiving your mic input, on top of the push to talk system. This threshold sometimes led to unexpected behavior as it didn’t always match with your actual mic levels, making it seem like VoIP wasn’t functional. We’ve taken out this threshold, so now you just need to hit push-to-talk to be picked up for VoIP input.

Wait... Does this mean I won't have to go into my settings, disable voip, save, exit settings, go back into settings, re-enable voip, save and exit again in order to be able to use voip in the matches anymore?

It means I won't have to crank my mic sensitivity all the way up to 100 to get VOIP to realize I'm talking....
Which means I can actually use VOIP without sounding like I'm trying to talk underwater with a mouth full of marbles after I came down with a spontaneous case of down syndrome...
Which means I'm going to get banned b/c my team will actually be able to hear my rants now

I had to ditch my USB headset to fix that. If their volume threshold was the problem, I'm going to be slightly annoyed.

I wonder if this is why my USB headsets never worked. I've tried two, and both worked with absolutely everything (including normal Teamspeak) except MWO, where they'd appear to work, but nobody could hear me.

I use a USB headset and have never had any problems. But I am hoping this will increase the number of people using VOIP as it is an excellent tool.

my issue was that picking up my voice for in game VOIP was completely intermittent. Some days it would not pick up ANYTHING at all. Others, no issue.
I only use USB headsets and have never had the issue in TS or Steam Chat etc etc

Mine too. Maddening really. I had been using headsets with the 3.5(?) jacks and no issue. The last one I was using broke and I picked a USB headset that, honestly, sounded amazing but had this issue. Sometimes doing what Alan Davion suggested above worked and sometimes not. Finally just went and picked up a cheap headset with jacks and the problem is gone. Like I said, if this change fixes the issue, I will be slightly annoyed.

I'm very happy they are doing this
I think they were terrified of Xbox users but really between push to talk a mute , you don't need anything else (and they have those)
I used to have a cheapo desk mic and I had to literally have it in my mouth when talking or I only transmit less than half my msg
I got a new mic and it's awesome but I still have issues with the threshold not catching me all the time
I've had teammates sound crystal clear in teamspeak and can't transmit at all in game
So glad they are fixing it
