Wish the WHM-6D had +10% LPL range instead of the +30-50 PPC velocity. As well, I wish the Black Widow had ammo quirks instead of PPC velocity... I burn through 6 tons of UAC5 ammo like nobody's business.

The general rule of thumb I use is 2 tons ammo per AC2 or 5, 1.5 to 2 tons per AC10, 3 or 4 tons per AC20, and 2 to 3 tons per Gauss. Generally want to go a little higher if the mech has few other damage sources, and maybe a little extra if you have 2 or more... I'd think 9 tons of ammo for 4xAC5 would be really tight, but if you're making it work, well, results speak loudly.

I have the same rule of thumb, which is part of why I was worried that 9 tons wouldn't be enough. In fact I didn't even buy the Black Widow originally because I couldn't envision a good build (thinking 9 tons was insufficient). But a friend does really well in his and said it seems to be plenty, so I gave it a try and... sure enough, he's right.

Don't really know why it works. I get the 25% remaining warning frequently, but only rarely actually run out of ammo. I don't feel like I'm conserving ammo at all, though I've never been one to plink away at long range for harassment purposes. I prefer to engage at 700 meters or less, which is optimal range with a module installed.

I actually had one game where I fired my last shot (and missed the needed kill shot) a split second before I was destroyed to end the match.

I'm not a huge fan of the warhammer. It's pretty squishy and doesn't fit my playstyle. It's got heat problems, and it's side torso can be hit even if you twist which makes an xl a death sentence. To be honest, I have yet to find an inner sphere chassis that I like.

I use 10 tons of ammo on my dire wolf for 4x UAC 5. I never use more than half my ammo in a match. The only match where I used all of it, was a match where our light and medium heavy Lances were wiped out, leaving a stalker, my dire, a Warhawks and an atlas against 12 enemy. We won the match with three of us left. Every single assault mech had over 1600 damage and 4 kills each. We were all bone dry on ammo and not a single one of us was at more than 18 percent structure left. Most amazing fight I've ever had.

Two of my Warhammers run standard:
3x LL/1x AC20 and 2x UAC5/4x med las

But tbh my Warhammer 3xLPL and 5 med las are way better than both

The mech is solid in terms of hitboxes, build variety, hard point location, and engine cap. I consistently do very well in them, my best being the Black Widow. I rate the mech as one of the best heavies to get, behind the Black Knight and the Grasshopper.

I think if Power Draw gets implimented properly, the BK and GHR will become one of the weakest heavies, because energy boats are the only thing they can do. No large ballistics or massed missiles in a system where you can only fire X amount of X lasers in X time (or however this gets implimented)

That's a realistic assumption. The Banshee 3E may replace the 3M in terms of superiority as well. We just have to wait and see.

I already see them everywhere. Its strange that no one talks about it, they're very strong Assaults right now.

I think a lot of the complaints are from Dakka Players. Seems to be a lot of them. They Die Fast, and get all Salty.

Overall, its a solid mech. People just want to play it Dakka. Thats all.

The Black Widow might be the best hero mech currently in game.
And the 6D is quite a good laserboat, only overshadowed by the BK and the GHR.

Really?

I have my DW setup with 2 UAC10s and 3 UAC5s, I run 9 tons of UAC5 ammo and 5 tons of UAC10 ammo, and I am always out of ammo...

Black Widow was made for 4 x AC/5. I average just over 550 damage/match using this build (torso armor not correct):

DAKKA WIDOW

You mean like all those laser/SRM Archers running around these days?

LRM15/20s or nothing! Do not feed the metabeast. Death before dishonor. Something, something inspirational.

Energy draw will be all weapons, not just Energy weapons.

AC 20 + 5x MLAS? Sorry too much damage all at once. Enjoy your nerf.

Yeah, but ac20+srm18, literally only powerdraw in RL would be ignitor spark. And that does a little more damage even though its spread.

Russ & Paul do not care about your "ignitor spark".

They will likely set a damage threshold and penalize you when you go over it in a specified time frame - regardless of what combination of weapons you are using.

Thats fine. Tired of glancing at overquirked mechs and loosing an entire torso due to the quirkening of badly placed hardpointed mechs. Sorry BK.
