feels like the current challenge is about the 10th in a row with archer, rifleman or other IS mechs. why is there never a similar thing for their clan counterparts?

All these events where not "IS sided". Only the events which where running in this year.
The other ones where the Leaderboard events which always comes with 'Mech realeses and the last four where IS 'Mechs. Kodiac and Viper will get theor own events (most likely)
