As if PGI had made the mech for him LOL...

Well, when you consider that TheArisen was the one who put Nightstar on the map with his thread and pleaded for it on Twitter, yeah. It happened with Bishop's K-9 and it happened with Imperius' Mad Cat Mk II this year. So, LOL to you sir.

And can confirm, that build is pretty nasty if you get the right map for it.

B33f should honestly swap out his SNPPC for this, it's way better.

It actually doesn't. It's getting waaaaaay too much negative feedback.

It is getting more rage than it deserves, no question. However part of that I think is just sort of a 'straw that broke the camels back' situation. IS also got a nerf that put it in a bad place vs the Clans already, plus already being on the weak side of the balance scale.... now the Nightstar, hoped to be the IS answer to the MC MKII turns out.... mediocre. Honestly I don't prioritize them when I see them in a match anymore than I prioritize an IS Hunchback. He's far from the biggest threat on the field. Sure, one can kill you if you're not careful but there's no loadout on one that's the kind of threat that most Clan assaults anywhere near its weightclass are. Laservomit EBJ is more of a direct threat.

So people get slapped in the face with a reminder of how bad balance is and they rage out. I canceled my preorders for it and the Osiris because I realized that both were just going to be a disappointment. There was one good mech in the whole release though...

The Arctic Wolf. So, some mediocre IS mechs, a solid Clan mech and a great Clan mech. That's pretty much the release model summed up that we've gotten for a while.

So yeah. People raged.

There is no way an IS assault can ever compete with a good Clan assault of similar weight, unless it has godlike quirks - which the Nightstar has not.

The Nightstar may have a number of small problems mounting to a larger issue, however addressing those problems is rather easy. An engine cap of 350 would be a small but significant step, better offensive quirks would help with the limited builds, etc.

To be honest I feel that PGI wanted to neuter the Nightstar. I don't know why, but I cannot escape that impression, especially when comparing it to the release of the Annihilator. With this kind of quirks and this kind of engine cap increase things would be a bit different.

the best assault the IS has right now. On par with the mauler and banshee. The part I like the most is the high mounted arms and torso weapons. The bad is average hit boxes. The machine gun lights have been having a field day.

I thought the Battlemaster was better than both the Banshee and the Mauler?

Certainly feels like it is.

That's because Heavy 'Mechs are a little bit better balanced than Assault 'Mechs.

Yeah I went there.

That's more a matter of Assaults being broke as **** than Heavies being balanced.

Also after the ML nerf the IS heavies took that hit the hardest - most relied on boated MLs (ERMLs) to scratch out decent firepower that, if they play it right, might let them win in a push on DPS. That's now gone.

Majestic's build actually works. Just saying. Tried myself.

The downside to that is that I had to drop every armor skills in favor of everything heat and range related and still crammed a battle computer I in there between the heat sinks.

Yeah it's strange but the Nightstar is actually good in close range. All these ppl bagging on it saying it's doa are so ridiculous.
