Were there any mechs you felt translated poorly to the engine? Any weapons left too under or overpowered?

Which brings up the thing that didn't translate to MWO, LBXs. Will see what the change to them after I install the patch on Tuesday.

That is a hard question for sure.
IS PPC as a weapon, somthing satisfying about the visuals and sound/fizzle pop affects with hud scramble etc.
Mechs-
Light: Prolly the Cougar, but shooting enemy as you ran away from them in a Raven, and troll build max speed Osiris was pretty fun.
Medium: Shadowcat for myself, Uziel for my lancemates. "Ryoken" was more potent usually, but less fun IMO.
Heavy: bigger engine Thanatos was my fav, I had lots of silly troll boat loadouts(including a really really fast one) for Nova Cat. Argus was a work horse for me and my lancemates, and the Catapult was a solid, stout mech in that game for utility.
Assault: err, I dunno. The way the game played you basically took the biggest badass you had. Fun wise, dakka boat Atlas was amusing for me(small UAC's), twin Thunderbolt Mauler was pretty lol. I used the Awesome a LOT for my lancemates.
Most of the fun in MW4 was taking what they gave you and making it work, and trying some new oddball stuff for the missions. If you limit yourself to some "goal" of a certain mech to play, you really miss out IMO.
My comments do not count the MekTek stuff.

Loki w/ 3x Clan LBX/10's and 5 Clan Medium ER Lasers
All weapons were 400M range, ran w/ active radar off, firepower was 85/100 which was really hard hitting for a heavy if I recall.
I remember 1 alpha strike could take out a Mad Cat's ear. I liked to run up close while the enemy played long range, and take out as many ears full of LRMs as possible before retreating back into cover.

Awesome with stock 3xPPC, all other weapons removed.
Uziel with 2xPPC and 1CSSRM6.
Once Mercs came along, Puma... with 2xERPPC.
I really liked PPCs.
Honorable mentions: HGauss/1ERLL Hunchback, 3xERLL Wolfhound and, before Mercs rearranged the hardpoints, 3xERLL Uller. Those last two ran hot as hell, but they were so much fun.

Even in MW:4 Large Pulse Lasers were excellent weapons, eh? How'd PGI mess up LBX Autocannons so much?

A lot of games from that era had a blue coil tracer effect for their railguns. IT looked good for the time atleast.

DWF with 3x UAC20 is very meta, apparently.
Your builds make my 4 LL build sound incredibly weak. Maybe I should load it up again and try a Ballistic boat?

Longbow with Arrow IV.
Atlas II, forgot which loadout.
Behemoth II with heavy rail gun for laughs.
Supernova with dual AC20's and support weapons.
Annihilator with 4 x AC10.

However, the Warhammer/IIC, Marauder/IIC and Marauder II were quite fun from what I recall. Can't wait to see what the WHM IIC, MAD IIC and MAD II look like here in MWO.
