How many non-assault Clan omnimechs can run this loadout? The Timby is a 75 ton heavy and it needs to strip serious armor to get there. Summoner can't. HBR can't. Mad Dog would require serious armor reduction. Heck, half the Clan assaults can't do it.

How many IS heavies can run dual gauss despite the much heavier weapon? Quite a few now.

Clan gauss weight is only a big deal on IIC mechs, but the Hunchy the currently the only mech that can really take advantage of this.

And even then only if you're going to cut way down on the engine (5 tons ammo, 210XL, 1 JJ, no backup weapons): HBK-IIC

The JM6 is a better dual gauss platform than the HBK-IIC, offering alternatively increased range or greatly increased cooldown. Also, with it's Gauss in the arms, it's able to aim at much steeper angles (and thus not be thwarted by an enemy on a cliff).

The HBK-IIC does have the ability to survive a ST loss, but even with that it's less sturdy than a JM6 (all of which have 3x 65 tonner structure) - though when all is said and done, neither are mechs intended to tank any damage. Further, the HBK will lose a ST way, way faster as the Gauss is essentially guaranteed to detonate the moment armor is gone on the (50 tonner) side torso, dealing an additional 20 damage to the structure.

Even with Clans having lighter and smaller gauss, IS is way better at running dual gauss overall.
