Simple, possibly added in as a module, or maybe something a bit easier to achieve, though I testify to it's usefulness in Mechwarrior 3 of which I primarily used C/ER-PPCs to get the job done as soon as I could outfit my lance and self with them. I still enjoy using them and other delayed direct fire weaponry as well like the C/Ultra Auto Cannons, but will always prefer the PPC as the primary weapon of choice. Target compensation puts a small circle(green or yellow in MW3) around the area the target will be and where you should essentially dump your lightning bolt or other delayed direct fire weapon's salvo to effectively hit your target. It could also be applied with great success to other weapons, but I find it most effective with a system like a PPC. I believe it would be a great addition to the game, though, I'm currently unaware if this has already been implemented. I'd enjoy some feedback on this, but either way I'm quite steady on the desire to get this feature put in the game.

I've thought of this sort of thing for an add-on module as well, but the two concerns I've had is that it could end up being a way too powerful module and the implementation would be difficult as well, since every weapon has its own speed.

You're correct, but the targeting computer/target compensation equipment allows the adjustment per weapon that is used. Check out some videos of mechwarrior 3 where the targeting computer or c/targeting computer is being used and you will see exactly what I mean. It literally just tells you where you SHOULD be firing to effectively hit your intended target.

I can take away from skill, but you still have to aim and often accuracy is still going to be down when a target is moving as opposed to standing still. It just helps boost accuracy regardless of what you're using. The targeting computer in mechwarrior 3 had the ability to adjust the reticle to individually target all major components of a mech from the head, torsos, arms, and legs. From what I remembered, it even worked on elementals, even though they didn't take long to destroy either way.
