Hey all,
I'm considering purchasing the Highlander IIC as it's always great to have another Assault in the garage, but I can't find any builds within the first 5 pages of the Assault Mech subforum. The only topic I could find is on the variant that I'm avoiding, the "prime" IIC.
For a brief 1-week period I saw some Highlander IICs do incredible amounts of damage every other match, 600-800 dmg. I'm interested in the HGN over the Orion simply because I don't need another Heavy mech that I'll never get to play. They're both similar when it comes to hardpoints anyways, might as well go for the bigger Mech.
Could someone post a few builds that give me reason to break the C-Bill bank please? Either I spend my C-Bills on this Mech, or save them for the evil Reseen meta heavies, someone save me from resorting to the IS Mad Dog and mini-Jager!

I suggest you check out mechspecs.com.
I am leveling them now. I would say 2x UAC-10 + 3x mlas is my best build. Cheap to setup as it has no endo and uses a surplus Jenner IIC engine. If you leave the armor ferro you can build the same thing with more ammo/equipment and a 325XL. Five tons of UAC ammo seemed enough though. Perhaps a TC2 or cAP.

Thank you. I tried going to metamechs and was subsequently confused, mistaking it for mechspecs. I'll go there now. I need to make an account and post my Executioner guide on there sometime, maybe I'll work on that while I'm at it...

As has been mentioned before on the forums - this mech is kind of a PITA to level through. No way around it -- the pre-elited speed, torso twisting and arm reflex are painful. Now that I've got mine to doubled-basics, I'm finding they're performing a lot better for me. Then again... I don't often pilot assaults as it is, so part of that might just be me shaking the rust off
I run XL325 and all three jets for all of mine. You have so much tonnage and so few hardpoints there's no real reason not to. Also both ES and FF where possible.
Prime - 2xLPLs, UAC20, 2xSRM6 + Artemis. Works nicely. Hits very hard for anything inside 400m.
IIC-B - 3xLRM15s (1200ish ammo), UAC20, 2xMPLs. Meh. It works well enough, but in those matches where you draw potato teams the LRMs feel like you're lugging around a 300lb gorilla. Ideally, your teammates (and you) will lock enough targets that you blast out all the missiles within the first couple minutes of the match. Press forward and don't hang back. The rockets will do you and your team better up at the front line travelling 300m.
IIC-C - 2xLPL, 2xUAC10s, 17ish DHS. This one works great. Good firepower out to a fairly long distance. Not much negative to say about it. Works well, hits hard, lots of fun.

A...3 lrm15 3lpl 1200ish ammo and plenty of double heat sinks. Feels like 300lb gorilla till 500m. Clpl is op
B...brawlin. 2lpl uac20 4srm6a. Brutal
C...2uac10 3mpl 2lrm15s. Tc4. Not my fav. Prob go 2srm6 and carry more dhs and/or switch out for ppcs with the impending buff. Double tapping uac10s is amazing with the speed the tc4 gives it along with beam range for lpl
All missles should have arty. U have so much available tonnage with clan xl325
Not even elited and doin awesome dmg
