Here are mine.
What are yours?
Alpine Peaks
One of those maps that ignite quite the controversy about wether there is a winning side and if so, which would it be. And one of those maps where having the high ground can be make or brake. I like havin Asian Dub Foundation in my playlist in general, but on this one, the song fits.
Canyon Network
Desert, Mesas, canyons. I see the map and I have ZZ Top in my ears. Can’t help it. And La Grange just feels the right one. It’s a gut thing, don’t ask me.
Caustic Valley
Like the fumes on Caustic, this song spreads ist music drifting around in layers, converging and dissipating. Sorry it’s cut off in YouTube, but you get the idea.
Crimson Straight
Another one of those gut songs. It just reflects the atmosphere I get most of the time playing this map. Lyric lines like „claustrophobic concrete“ just hit it right on when being stuck in the tunnel or under the plattform. And if you think you know that song but can't put a finger on it, here's a tip: Motorstorm!
Forrest Colony
This was a quite a hard to crack, as I reckon I havent played Forrest very often recently. But as I was thinking about it, a song came to mind. „Bug Pwoder Dust“ by „Bomb the Bass“. Actually I prefer the „Kruder & Dorfmeister Remix“ because it sounds more atmospherical and supports the feeling of lurking through that wood on the prowl for your enemy.
Frozen City
Since the redesign the Frozen Map feels quite confrontional, especially during assault when both sides would just dig in on their sides, a large trench in between, and trade long range fire. And, come on, it’s a friggin classic!
Grim Plexus
A map that only on the surface seems tob e a wide long range map that can get close-up brawling very fast. You still have to cover distance but still it feels more agile than other maps. And if you think you know that song but can't put a finger on it, here's a tip: Motorstorm!
HPG Manifold
HPG is THE brawling map for me and this song is just the right one. The electronic sound represents the technology aspect of the map, the center being just one big clump of machines and the aggression in the song shadows the level of direct confrontation on HPG.
Polar Highlands
The map is vast, wide and open. You get loads of indirect fire. Opponents lurk in the white frozen dessert as an unseen and constant menace. Not unlike the song that feels wide and suffocating at the same time with the dark undertone in the back of you neck.
River City
I always liked that song and it kinda sprung to mind when I was trying to find what I would associate with playing on River. Perhaps it feels very strategical, slow and fast moves? Had 2 1k matches on this one (form e still a big deal) and the best experiences were Assault matches, kinda „Catch the Battleflag“ ;-)
Terra Therma
Lot's of Prodigy songs go great with the martial nature of MWO, but this kinda hits the spot with the Terra map, especially after the overhaul. A cool hot map indeed.
Mining Collective
Mining is industry. Mining is dirt, oil pipes and machines. Mining is power. Raw Power. Like that song. Classic of it’s time and still. And I experienced way too many NASCAR situations on this one to let it fall under the table.
Tourmaline Desert
Like the song, the map eases in due it’s quite large nature. But it gets very hectic very fast. This track just fires you up even more and if you haven’t seen that movie (Run, Lola, Run) Do it!
Viridian Bog
During the first months I really hated Viridian. I got constantly lost, stuck myself dozens of times and got jumped upon countless times without me noticing anyone approaching. But then I got the hang of it and in the meantime I had some of my all time best matches on this one and love the atmosphere on it after it’s last redesign. I stumbeled upon this song a few months ago on the search for Swamp Thing Comics and it’s quite pushy and a good track to play to.
