If we had something like this. Granted it was only for one day for April Fools 2015, but still how cool would it be to have npc tanks or vehicles in the game. Even to say not playable, just to add environment and scale. I play this semi regularly, in between sessions of mwo, and I missed this event. Kinda pissed cuz it looks like it was pretty fun. Don't flame please, just input what would flesh out this game, in terms of npcs and scenarios that could result from such additions. Vid is for some of you who may not have seen the mech tank mod the game did. This is before the engine update last fall.

Very often I've made mention of such ideas.
Scouting mode was the most recent, in which I criticized it for not having "things" happen worth scouting (at the time I didn't know their positioning was random; shocking as this is to find something random in MWO).

I called for interesting stuff to 'scout' and observe, so instead of running to such-and-such point and "downloading" from a random stick in the ground, you'd run to a spot overlooking a base in Alpine and see vehicles and other activity. Or near the 'frozen Atlas' and see a recovery crew trying to salvage the transport and mech. Etc.

It even called upon placing two 'Defenders' at the edge of the map and 2 at random 'points of interest' to spawn in or near hangars or other 'paths' entering the map. Each of the points of interest could have defenses or even the 'activity itself' could have the ability to detect the mech's presence and sound an alarm if the scout was detected. Possibly even attack. This alarm would cause the defenders to spawn a bit sooner than if a timer ran out.

Interesting ideas for scouting.
I thought it would be cool if factions had to mine resources, not in an active way a game mode where you protect you npcs, and that is how the score is managed. You take out some of the other teams NPC mining bots over there off the hill near f6 in alpine valley and it affects the overall match score between the two teams.

Stuff like the Dig King, and the Heavy Lifter. Dig Kings and the like could be interspersed throughout the map, and Heavy Lifters could be used to transport. Still 12 man teams, or hell even 8 lol. The idea is to protect your assets.

I like it. It adds immersion and more directed challenge to the game.

Seeing that video just makes me wish we had at least semi-believable maps...

I've been hoping for some sort of NPC controlled vehicles in at least faction play forever now. I mean I don't even care if they're just mild distractions. It would help so much with immersion. Battletech has always been a combined arms game. Yeah mechs were always the top dogs, but tanks and aerospace had their place.

Yea for sure, although I feel adding ground units would be more feasible and engine friendly than aerospace. Thought of an objective based game similar to conquest but the capture points grant the teams points to spend on support, (ie tanks, troops, etc.) kind a of moba-ish but not, as the commander has the call of using points as seen fit. And hey then the command role ACTUALLY has a purpose lol.

And support gets dropped in using in game assets ala drop ship and smoke marker.

Now that you mention it, it would be nice to nice to see a new game mode added to faction play with Living Legends style maps that have capture points that spawn ai ground units for defense ala-moba and allow you the choice to spawn at any point that your team has captured. It would certainly be more engaging and more strategic than the attack in waves/ into the grinder invasion mode we currently have.

There's another idea that would work, and imo really cement the idea that a planetary force is here to take you're ****. I was avoiding something full on moba, thinking that would shot out of the water. But in fw I think it would be something. At the very least it could prevent murderballs if implemented right.
