If I equip a Clan AC2 (not to confuse with UAC2,) In the weapon skill tree, do I select LBX or CUAC skills to boost the range and cooldown? That's a lot of wasted GXP if I don't get this right so can someone please enlighten me?

Thanks

EDIT: I got UAC and AC skills confused

You're gonna get a lot of "Don't bother with Clan AC's!!!" So be prepared. With good reason, mind you. They're obsolete. Go UAC always.
To answer your question it's the CAC. They're all separate weapons

AC2 doesn't have anything besides a range module as far as I know, supposed to happen, guess they're waiting for another patch to put it in.

Deathwaffle, pay no attention to this.

Standard Clan ACs are purely place holders due to the fact that PGI is incapable of properly programming the ammo switching for Clan LBX ACs, as they are supposed to be able to switch between the pellet ammo which they use currently, and the slug rounds which only the IS ACs use.

The Clan ACs are not wholly useless, as they are cooler running than the Clan Ultra ACs. And they don't jam like Clan Ultras, but they're a bit heavier as a drawback though.

To answer your question though, you would go with the Clan AC skills, not the LBX skills.

Thanks all, and currently I can't find CAC skills only CUAC skills... that's why I'm asking the question

Also, cool running ACs are obsolete now cause they all generate a lot of heat if you keep spamming your autocannons but laser vomit seems fine ATM

Can someone confirm all of this?

Long story short: Don't bother with anything other than C-UAC5, C-UAC10 and C-UAC20. Preferably on mechs with jam reduction quirks.

C-UAC5 is the most heat efficient one. 5 damage 1 heat. No laser can compete with that. Even if you stuff your clan mech with 25 DHS, a mech with UACs will have better sustained DPS.

Laser vomit = good for poking and hiding.
UACs = sustained DPS.

Pro tip: If you go against a laser vomit mech in a UAC mech, make him waste 2 of his salvos by torso twisting first, then open him up with UACs while he panics and overheats.
