What exchange rate is PGI using? Canucks seemed to be getting it bad.

We're paying +33% instead of the current exchange rate of +27%

The extra 60 cents on the tournament supporter pack isn't going to break me but it starts adding up on the bigger packs. Plus my credit card is going to charge me an extra 2.5% on the total for paying in US funds!

I'm guessing that extra 60 cents is to cover the conversion of CAD to USD which will then be converted back to CAD to pay PGI employees, rent, servers etc. Seems kind of mad.

Well you could purchase a Wal-mart card with US rates (not worth it).

This could also be some sort of weird secondary tax/fee like they have on cell phones that can vary dramatically for different locations that is also included on top of the exchange difference.

OR - you could have seen the a real problem that will make this post get picked up by the black helicopters.

It's unlikely that PGI are setting the exchange rate themselves, whoever is providing their payment system will be setting those and they tend to work on a longer spread (average over 7 days) than most exchange sites do (they tend to do 3 day averages, or lower if it's a trade-centric site) so the value is going to be off and will often include a bit extra for commission that goes to the provider, rather than the trader (ie PGI aren't getting the extra).

So if you think you're being screwed then mail PGI going "change payment service provider! I'm being gibbed five cents in the dollar by the guys you're using!" rather than "PGI, you are the people ripping me off!"
