Pretty much just as it says.

Just like 1 player can contribute more as 25% of the team, so to does 1 player AFK screw the team. Had 3 scout missions last night with an AFK, and was insane the difference it made.

Reporting them as Non Participation is fine and good, sad part is that it takes god only knows how many reports or how long for and action to be taken.

Personally, I think they need some basic code in the game. If your mech is totally immobile for 1-2 minutes, it counts you as a disconnect.

I really have been having fun with scouting....except with AFKers.

I only played 3 matches so far, but I thought the same thing in the loading screen:
Have only ONE DC and you're screwed.

It's not like people can choose not to disco.

The interesting question is: how could it be compensated, at least partly?

- let an AI control the DC'ed Mech? (if only there were one)
- let a killed player jump into the DC'ed Mech (coding effort for PGI, ouch)
- kick/lock an equal amount of players on the other side (outrage...)

I will go ahead and state the obvious "bring 4 players" but I know how lame a comment that can be.

Higher penalty for discos in that mode does make sense though, on purpose or not.

Why would they? Why even press launch button? AFKs are a pain in the ***, that is true, but people get disconnected because of some error, not because of their deliberate choice.

I don't see it being able to be compensated, any more than it is in 12 man. But maybe if jerkoffs start getting Disco penalties for being AFK, (a lot less code) they will stop watching their porn stream while dropping.

people can, and do, regularly disco when they get a map they don't like.
