Dervish is similar in loadouts to existing 55 ton IS mechs such as Kintaro. It has 2 missiles and 2 energy in the low slung arms so dunno how effective that would be. Has JJs though.

Well, if he's looking for another 55 tonner to name himself after, Scorpion is always there.

And if anyone asks, you can just pretend you named yourself after the Mortal Kombat character.
.
.
Or you know... The actual animal (BUT THAT'S BORING).

Missile mechs don't need high mounts

As a pilot of HBK-SP, HBK-4J, WVR-7K, and Shadowhawks, I can say for certain that those mechs would perform worse if their torso missile hardpoints were down in the arms instead. It matters a lot with SRMs, less so for lurming. Especially on a JJ capable mech that can take advantage of high missile mounts.

Odd. Since my best heavy is my ON1-VA, with its missiles (4xSRM4) IN the arms. Much easier to track and hit fast moving targets, I usually find.

Also, if all you intend is srms them by all means let's not include the dervish.... As we already have far too many mechs doing everything but their intended roles.

I would rank it above Kintaros but below Griffins. Final score would depend on quirks and if missile doors actually reduce damage at all any more.

1. Your Orion also packs an Autocannon. Mediums only have their missiles and maybe few back-up lasers. Two different things.

2. Even in LRM role, Dervish is redundant, as we already got multiple 50-55 ton mechs with 3-5 missile slots.

@Bandito: Depending on the arm modeling the Dervish would be the missile jumper with the highest tube count potential. If you wanted to go heavily down the LRM15 route I could see that being desireable. Multiple launcher setups are too heavy for the Trebuchet.

Well isn't that a sexy War Machine?

With decent SRM2 spread quirks and maybe 2 Missile Slots per arm it will become really interesting.
2 MLAS and 4 SRM2 in high agility arm jackets? Eh drop the MLAS you don't need it.

The SRM 2 is the most underated weapon in the whole game - even with the current spread its a kind of short range PinPoint Medium Laser with less heat. 2sec a reload. You just need 4 for an endless stream of 4dmg pp. Ok you may need some heatsinks (my CN9-AH overheat on a regular basis)

But not only that it have them placed in the arms, the Dervish has also JumpJets....death from above - with missiles that can be fired while falling to the ground or overjumping a target. Great great great....
