Alternatively, buff almost every other light mech in the game. But the balance between the Oxide and other light mechs right now seems a bit off.
Would You Mind Awfully If The Oxide Was Nerfed?

I don't know, i seem to die to the Side-torso loss more often than not, after the hitbox revision.
Jenners (non-oxide) are horribly underquirked and could use some love in that regard.

The Oxide goes down just as fast as other IS lights when people CHOOSE to do something about it. Leave it running around and it can create a lot of damage.

It's a strong light, but i feel it's on par with the ACH or the FS9, and maybe even worse than them.
All in all, i do not think it deserves a nerf.

I get that, but I just feel like there's only a handful of light mechs who have a fair chance of beating the Oxide in a 1v1 situation. And most light mechs don't have the speed to outrun it either, so if you just stumble upon an Oxide in River City and it attacks you, that's a wrap, son. Good night Irene.

Well, if I'm in something like a Firestarter or ACH with 6-7 SPL, then I have a chance. The Oxide probably needs 3 alphastrikes to rip my side torso or leg off, and I have roughly the same time to smash that CT.
But in most other mechs, I don't think it's even close. If you're in a Raven, a Panther or most other Light mechs, it's like bringing a knife to a gun fight. You simply can't compete with the burst damage up close.

Are there any other mechs besides the ACH, FS9, LCT-1E or JR7-F (basically, besides the best laser boats) that handle themselves well in a straight fight with an Oxide?
I'd say all Ravens are screwed, all Panthers are screwed, all Kit Foxes, all Adders, all Mist Lynxes, most Locusts, all Urbies, all Spiders, all Commandos, and most (if not all) Wolfhounds too. Screwed as in "You'd be lucky to win more than 1 time out of 5."
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I just need to git gud. But I feel like 4SRM4's to the face, with quirks, is just more than most other light mechs can handle.

oxide has only one role and can do only one thing. nerf it and no one will pilot it again. we need more mechs to become viable not to render them useless.

Yeah, same with the LCT-1E, JR7-F, FS9, etc. If they're not boating SPLs, they're not as powerful. Boating MLs or MPLs is a lot harder, it seems like. But then again, as someone who is a firm advocate that light mechs shouldn't be underpowered compared to other mechs, I agree that it's dumb to keep punishing the top light mechs. Like when the ACH came out, a lot of people argued that the ACH was OP. But in my mind, the ACH is only OP compared to most other light mechs. Not compared to mediums, heavies or assaults.
I don't know though. There's something fiercely discouraging about getting into a duel with an Oxide when hitreg is on point.

Well... yes and no. It depends on builds. If a light striker or brawler finds a light sniper alone, the sniper is going to die most times.
Same thing happens when a brawler heavy catches a sniper heavy in CQC.
I think thats how things are meant to be... imagine the QQ if they were not!
The Oxide is a niche Boom&Zoom mech with lots of problems for that playstyle: no JJs, smallish engine (you can't go above 280 XL if you want 5 tons of SRM ammo an 4xSRM4s), bad hitboxes, ammo dependency.
It NEEDS to be strong in that niche, or it becomes worthless.
If it were nerfed and dedicated snipers (edit: and skirmishers) could stand their ground against it in CQC, what would it's use ever be?
Of course, i use mine as a 4xLRM5 troll boat.. because reasons

Are the hardpoints really so bad that it needs 80 more structure than every other Jenner?
Is the Oxide such a bad 'mech that it needs 50 free structure to be a match for the UrbanMech?
Is the base Oxide so bad that it needs more structure than a Spider to be competitive?

Just leave it be so that there's at least some marginal reason for its continuing existence.
