Now that Faction Play has 4 vs 4 Scouting Mode for Lights and Mediums, how about a Major Battle Mode in QuickPlay for Heavies and Assaults only? Posted Image

I wonder if 8 vs 8 would be better for this mode or just stick with 12 vs 12...

A good argument could be made for a 4v4 mode for each weight class - light scouting, medium skirmishing, heavy battles, and assault ... assaults.

Most likely because there really wouldn't be any major deployment in BT where only heavies and assaults were used. Heavies and especially assaults were a huge investment, often irreplaceable, and would not be deployed without a strong escort (lest they fall prey to fast strikers like the Jenner). They typically made up only a third or so of any given force, with mediums and lights carrying the balance. It would have been pretty common to see a whole company that didn't have a single assault 'Mech and only one or two heavies in its command lance- even in a major offensive.

There absolutely would be missions that were carried out by lights and mediums without support from heavier 'Mechs, but you would only see fights with exclusively heavies or exclusively assaults in Solaris matches.

Hence the "Major Battle" mode, though admittedly major battles didn't happen every day in BT. Posted Image

I was just going to say QP is fine the way it is, but why doesn't CW have more of those kinds of options?

Doesn't even have to all be 4v4, heavy + assault could even be 8v8 and reuse or modify current game modes.
Scouting for lights only.
Conquest for mediums.
Assault for heavies.
Domination for assaults.

Implement some lesser rewards/advantages that could actually offer some additional layers to the entire mode. Smaller advantages that layer up, but widen the scope of things taking care to not set it up so anything leads to big lopsided advantages/disadvantages for the 12v12 competitions.

For advantages things like - small boost to sensor range, advance drop points for reinforcement, turrets active/or not, gates open/closed, MFB/cannon/gens have additional/less hp or a layer of armoring(nothing super substantial but noticeable), reinforcement speed.
Oddball things that can add a lot of variation and challenge but even if stacked up still let the 12v12 planet matches be competitive on both sides of the field.
